Seagulls fail in shocker
FOR the second time this season the Burleigh Bears have been involved in what was undoubtedly the Queensland Cup?s most boring game of the round.
Unfortunately for the Tweed Heads Seagulls it was their home game at Ned Byrne Field, and they?re the ones that finished on the wrong side of the 14-6 scoreline.
?It was the worst game of football I?ve seen in a long while,? one spectator said.
?It was a pathetic, scrappy game, even farcical at times.?
With the Gold Coast Titans? top men Michael Searle and John Cartwright watching on from the grand stand, players from both sides had the chance to impress,
but failed miserably, particularly Titans squad member Michael Henderson who dropped carry after carry.
Without influential halfbacks Brad Davis and Tim Maccan, the Seagulls lacked organisation, structure and impetus, completing just one set in the second stanza.
And the Bears, running around like a bunch of headless chooks, weren?t much better.
Both sides scored a try a piece in the first half ? Tweed through Dominique Peyroux and Burleigh Adam Fielder ? to enter the sheds locked at 4-4.
Although neither side looked like scoring again, it was Robert Apanui who broke through to score the match winner for the visitors.
Now zero from three, the Seagulls travel to Cairns next weekend in search of their first win of the season.
