McGuire says 'non' to French

Australians Casey McGuire and Adam Mogg have both ruled themselves out of playing for France in the Gillette Four Nations Series.

The pair, along with Clint Greenshields, succeeded in their plea for eligibility after spending the past three seasons in the south of France playing for Catalans Dragons.

However, Mogg declined the invitation to play for personal reasons while Maguire has told the French management that he needs rest after "an exhausting Super League season".

The selectors were also turned down by former Catalans and Harlequins hooker or half-back Julien Rinaldi, now player-coach of Villeneuve, who was not included in coach Bobbie Goulding's trimmed-down squad and has resisted a late invitation.

"I've served them for the moment," he said. "I haven't closed the door but I prefer to concentrate on my club."

The rejections leave Goulding with a 22-man squad preparing for next Friday's opening match against England at Doncaster.
