This will be a big one. In the past the Gold Coast haven't really been luckier enough to always get wins over the teams they are struggling. So we can't underestimate the Chooks, they do have many great players.

But it is also our opportunity to get 2 points and possibly increase our f/a if we are lucky enough to deploy some of the form we had in last night's first half. Then we can enjoy the bye on 22 points.

    Teams should be announced soon.

It's a shame this game has been moved to Bluetounge. I happened to have booked flights to Sydney for this weekend, and am staying 5 minutes from Olympic Stadium.

Absolutely. Our Roosters away games at the SFS are the most popular for our Sydney fans. Moving the game is a shame and means our southern fans miss out. But on the other hand, at least the Central Coast isn't too far away from Sydney.

It would have been fun to go see them down there. Couldn't convince my fiance to let me hire a car and drive is up to Bluetounge. We're going down there to see her grandparents so no chance. Ah well, I'll be able to see them play down there in the grand final!

    ROOSTERS FAVOURITES FOR THE SPOON

TAB Sportsbet has promoted the hapless Sydney Roosters to be new Wooden Spoon favourites after upset wins by both Cronulla and Parramatta in Round 13.

Brad Fittler's boys tightened from the second line of betting @ $2.75 in to $2.25 elects while Cronulla drifted from $1.95 to $2.75 as a result of back-to-back wins over Parramatta and Warriors.

Things don't improve for the Roosters as they face Gold Coast this week

Wests Tigers, on a losing streak which has reached five, are on the third line @ $6.50 after being as much as $17 last week. They meet Parramatta this week in an important match for both.

Parramatta drifted from $6 to $9 with the other big firmers being Warriors, who are $81 into $17.

Meanwhile, the Roosters squad for Saturday's clash against Gold Coast at BlueTongue Stadium in Gosford is unchanged from the 17 that lost 38-18 against Manly last weekend.

Nate Myles has again been named on the bench with Myles in quarantine for the next 72 hours due to being a room-mate of Bulldogs prop Ben Hannant when in camp for the opening State of Origin match in Melbourne.

The out of form Willie Mason retains his position in the starting side with reports linking the former International with a switch to rugby union in Europe or Japan.

The Roosters have shown glimpses of improvement in the last few weeks, so let us hope there are no signs of complacency and we can beat them no matter how well they play. Interesting to see Bailey named despite some on here saying he has a small fracture in his arm.

Geese are the ultimate team players.

I would be suprised to see Bull or the Rat play if there is the slightest chance of making an injury worse than if they have a week or 2 off as we have our 2nd bye in round 15 .......... i would have Big Red starting in the front row & Presto at 5/8 , there is no reason to risk anyone at the halfway point of the season

Gold Coast Titans captain Luke Bailey may have broken arm

Swine flu was the least of Gold Coast Titans co-captain Luke Bailey's concerns after his heroic display in his side's 28-24 NRL upset of the St George Illawarra on Monday night.

While laughing off a flu scare despite being in quarantine on Tuesday, Bailey is sweating on follow up scans on his arm which he fears may have been broken in the first half of the Skilled Park clash.

That did not stop him returning to the field to ensure the Titans held out the fast finishing visitors to record their first-ever win over the Dragons.

Bailey was sensationally rushed from Skilled Park to nearby Robina hospital at half-time - but it had nothing to do with the flu scare that has rocked the NRL.

X-rays picked up what appeared to be a hairline fracture but Bailey still put his hand up to return to the field for a depleted Titans as the Dragons came back from 22-2 down at half-time.

"First we thought the x-rays gave us the all-clear but on second look the doc said there might be something little in there," Bailey said.

"We won't know until we get a bone scan.

"We've got a great medical team here so it was all over in 10 minutes - it was pretty handy actually."

Bailey didn't think twice about returning to the field in the 63rd minute after the Titans were depleted by the loss of barnstorming backrower Brad Meyers (concussion).

Titans pivot Mat Rogers also suffered what appeared to be a hamstring complaint but stayed on the field, only to damage rib cartilage in the dying minutes.

"You hear about that sort of thing all the time," Bailey said of his heroics.

"If the coach says 'if you can play, play' - I had enough bandages on there (arm) anyway.

"And I don't know if you saw my hit-ups towards the end but they were one-sided leading with the shoulder so I wasn't too tough I can tell you."

He hoped he would still be available for Origin II in Sydney on June 24.

For now, Bailey is resigned to laying low at home after he and his Titans and New South Wales Origin teammate Anthony Laffranchi were ordered into quarantine for 72 hours.

Both the Titans and the Dragons lost a player before kick-off on Monday night due to quarantine measures - Gold Coast's Ashley Harrison and St George Illawarra fullback Darius Boyd.

But a communication breakdown resulted in Boyd arriving at the ground in the Dragons team bus and mingling with players before being told to leave.

The NRL ordered both teams to pull their Queensland players involved in last Wednesday's Origin clash after Maroons forward Ben Hannant caught swine flu in Melbourne last week.

But the NSW contingent - five players in all - in both teams were cleared to play.

If Bailey was concerned by the flu scare, he wasn't showing it.

"Boof (Laffranchi) and I might go to the movies together and clear out the cinemas," Bailey laughed.

The NRL have issued a "please explain" to St George Illawarra over Boyd's presence at the ground and he will leave the Gold Coast and re-join his teammates on Wednesday.

Bailey was named in an extended 19-man squad for Saturday's NRL clash with Sydney Roosters at Bluetongue Stadium.

Queensland forward Harrison has been named to return along with winger Kevin Gordon (groin) who missed the four point nail-biter against the Dragons.

Other injury concerns Rogers and Meyers were also included in the squad.

Nate Myles has been tested for swine flu, it has come back negative. He is good to go.

No crowing at Dragons win if Roosters ruffle feathers
    Pat McLeod

THE Titans hoodoo-breaking win over the Dragons will be for nought if they fall to the bottom-placed Roosters on Saturday night.

Although the Gold Coast club was rightfully buoyant yesterday, a day after after toppling St George Illawarra for the first time, coach John Cartwright has genuine concerns about the weekend assignment away at the Central Coast's Blue Tongue Stadium.

The club faces a disrupted week at training with three key players, Luke Bailey, Anthony Laffranchi and Ashley Harrison all quarantined because of swine flu concerns.

Have your say on the feedback form below

Even without that hiccup Cartwright sees the Roosters as a major danger.

"You often hear that a good win will help you into the rest of the season, but it won't unless you address what needs to be addressed on a daily and weekly basis," he said.

"Yes, it was great to beat St George, but it is a dangerous game this weekend against the Roosters.

"In fact you could say that win (over the Dragons) would be wasted if we lose.

"We are only at the halfway mark of the season and teams like Parramatta, the Sharks and the Roosters are all running into good form.

"Realistically at this stage nobody is without a chance of playing finals football.

"Honestly I don't know what to expect on Saturday. They are desperate, the game is on the Central Coast, it will be a disrupted week so we just have to prepare well.

"It is a scary thought going down there because on paper they are as strong as anyone."

Young flyer Kevin Gordon has overcome a groin injury and has regained his spot in the Titans team at the expense of David Mead.

Also back for Saturday night's game at Bluetongue Stadium is Harrison, with Luke O'Dwyer being moved from the back of the scrum to an extended bench.
