Gold Coast Titans tipped to re-sign star halfback Scott Prince
RUMOURS are sweeping the Gold Coast that the Titans are on the verge of re-signing star halfback and co-captain Scott Prince to a long-term deal today.
While club sources have refused to confirm the deal the club has called a press conference for 1.30pm this afternoon heralding a "major player signing".
Titans managing director Michael Searle and Titans chairman Paul Broughton will make the announcement.
The fact the majority of the club's big-name talent is locked away to long-term deals has led weight to speculation that the target of today's announcement is Prince.
Together with the club's first signing, livewire Preston Campbell, Prince was considered the most crucial recruit to the fledgling franchise.
The former premiership halfback with Wests Tigers was originally signed to the Titans on a four-year $1.4 million deal that will expire at the end of 2010.
Prince, who has proven his worth at both Test and State of Origin level, would attract significant interest should he be allowed to enter the open market.
But the Titans have previously stated they want their key trio of Campbell, Prince and fellow co-captain Luke Bailey to end their careers on the holiday strip.
Campbell, who is off contract at the end of the season has been assured a "job for life" by Searle, with the decision whether he continues to play solely up to him.
Prince, 29, has also indicated that after stints at North Queensland, Brisbane and Wests Tigers, he now regards the Titans as his home and would love nothing more than to lead them to an inaugural finals appearance.

NEW! SOUTH! WALES!
Yeah, it'd be nice if he re-signed, he's a good player
Tolar from the knights is set to make a decision on his playing career at 3:30. Fans think hes retiring or resigning or something like that. I hope he re-signs
Signed until the end of 2014.

I'm a huge Scott Prince fan but does anyone else see any problem with signing a 29 year old player to a deal which will see him be 34 at contracts end????
sounds to me like he's going to groom/mentor rankin over the next few years so by the time rankin is 21 he'll be 100% ready to take over the number seven
Plus princey has been injured slot the past few years which will hopefully make his longevity in the game last even more than it would have
This and the friend re-signing is so significant to our future we have to be stoked to bits

I certainly hope he has many great years to come at the Titans as I enjoy nothing more than seeing him at his devastating best.
Is Rankin still playing 6 in the Toyaota Cup? I get the feeling he'll be a first grade number 6 along side Prince long before he gets the chance to wear 7....
Yup,5 years !!
As Peter Tunks said today on Talkin Sports , Scott Prince is the most Complete footballer in the NRL & is the only player in the game worthy of a 5 Year contract & i'll agree 100%
Now the Prince has nothing else to think about apart from winning this seasons Competition
