Would be great for their game, any idea where the funding for a pro league would come from, especially at a time like this?

I saw this, really hope it IS rugby league. Over the years there has been a few supposed PRO usa comps but never came and there are a few union competition with confusing league-like names in North America.

But rugby league could really use a pro comp in the USA and I believe it is one market where it could be very successful.

Hopefully we can see this develope into something!

If it does go pro and succeed it could be huge for world RL,but they face a huge task, not the best time to be looking for corporate dollars.Lets hope they set a limit on foreign players, would hate to see the teams top heavy with over the hill players from UK,Australia and NZ.Russia were on the brink of something big a few years back and look at them now, league has gone so far backwards its not funny.

What happened in Russia was heartbreaking, especially after so much promise.

But if the pro USA competition is to succeed they need all the forces of world rugby league lending their support, clubs, NRL, RLIF and RFL.

We may only get one real roll of the dice for pro rugby league in the USA. We got to make it count!

They will also face terrible economic times and also they seem to be declaring war on rugby union in the USA. They need to be ready for a counter attack and sabotage/interference.

They need to stop being so secretive because everyone seems to be in the dark. We need to know if this is credible.

I would definately chip in some cash to buy foundation membership or something to support one of these USNRL franchises.

There is more info and news on the website now. http://www.nrlus.com

    NRL USA Team Locations

As the interest continues to build around the NRL 2010 kickoff, a tremendous amount of inquiries have been directed to where the potential team locations are going to be developed. A number of options are available, with existing AMNRL club regions being ideal locations given the established presence of rugby league in those communities.

As the NRL USA manage discussions with interested team operators, a number of factors will influence the final determination regarding team location.

    Among these will be:

    Team Operator preference
Venue/Facilities - existing Major League Soccer Stadiums with capacity of 10- 25,000 are ideal
Support of City - the support of local government is fundamental to NRL USA team location plans
    Community outreach
    Existing rugby demographic
    Local college communities
    Local Sponsorship/Advertising
    Local Media
Currently the NRL USA have identified a number of team locations and operators in these cities across America, that meet the basic criteria to host an NRL franchise:

    Philadelphia, PA
    New York, NY
    Hartford, CT
    Boston, MA
    Jacksonville, FL
    Los Angeles, CA
    Denver, CO
    Chicago, IL
    Pittsburgh, PA
    San Francisco, CA
    San Diego, CA
    Washington DC
    Dallas, TX
    Las Vegas, NV
