Harrison named 18th man
GOLD Coast utility Ashley Harrison has received a confidence boost after being called into the Queensland side as 18th man.
The versatile 27-year-old will join the Maroons in camp on the Gold Coast and travel with the squad to Sydney on Tuesday morning ahead of Origin 1 at Telstra Stadium on Wednesday night.
The call-up comes as a timely boost for Harrison, who has not been a part of a Maroons camp since making his Origin debut in 2005.
?It?s great to be included in the squad or know that you?re not far away at least,? said Harrison.
?It?s a great reward for the team and how well we?ve been playing.
?I?m just looking forward to the next few days.?
It marks the second time Harrison has been named 18th man for Queensland, with the Brisbane junior called in as back-up for the second game of the 2005 series before earning his debut in the decider that year.
Jetstar Titans managing director Michael Searle said Harrison?s call-up as 18th man was a reward his early season form for his new club.
?It?s a good reward for his efforts so far this year and supports his decision to come back to Queensland to play with the Titans,? said Searle.
?Hopefully he gets a run at some stage during the series.?
