According to you Supper Cronk- -when I mention what's in the paper - about Bellamey being targeted by the Broncos I'm repetative and when I say I'm offended about being told I'm on drugs , you want to be condensing.

Would love to meet you some time chum! I'm offended and would love to explain to you face to face why. Doubt you would understand it but cats like you never do.Cat!

Come on guys chill chill don't make me do some Dr Phil stuff, you know I hate that.

Strong rumour in today's Courier Mail that Wayne may end up at the Cowboys replacing Murray. I can see this happening. And it would be a good fit. I like Graham though as a coach, but there has been rumours about him being on the outer for a couple years.

    Murray unfazed by Bennett bets

THE Cowboys have denied coach Graham Murray is a dead man walking despite an amazing betting plunge that suggests Wayne Bennett is a good thing to take the helm at North Queensland in 2009.

Bennett's decision to resign a year before his contract was due to expire at Brisbane in 2009 has sent a flutter through the NRL's coaching ranks.

Murray at the Cowboys, Steve Folkes at the Bulldogs and Nathan Brown at the Dragons all find themselves under siege before a ball is kicked in anger.

Cowboys chief executive Peter Parr was staggered when told of the plunge that prompted North Queensland to shorten from $4.50 to $1.30 favourite as Bennett's most likely new home in 2009.

"I'm not sure what I can say, but that seems like one very brave bet," he said.

"As I have said repeatedly, we are not going to be rushed into any rash decisions just because Wayne has decided he is going to go a year earlier," Parr said.

"We have processes we will go through to determine who will coach the Cowboys beyond this season, be that Graham Murray or someone else.

"We are comfortable with the time frames. We have said nothing will happen in the pre-season. Nothing has changed."

Many believe Bennett would be a good fit for the Cowboys.

He is revered throughout Queensland and the laid-back Townsville lifestyle is likely to appeal to him - as would the Cowboys' star-studded roster.

There have been suggestions ex-Brisbane skipper Gorden Tallis, recently appointed to the North Queensland board, might oppose Bennett being approached but that is not the case.

Murray was remarkably calm about his predicament when contacted. He did not wish to fuel the flames by publicly commenting on the Bennett situation - confident his own record should speak for itself.

He has a point. While judges could not find a place for Murray among the six contenders for coach of the year in 2007, in many ways it was his crowning achievement.

Murray rallied his injury-depleted troops and took them to a game short of their second grand final in three years.

If the Cowboys start this season strongly, Murray would be a hard man to sack, particularly given there is no truth to the rumour he doesn't wish to coach on beyond 2008. If it isn't at the Cowboys, it will be somewhere else in 2009.

Punters are banking on the latter. Sportingbet was shocked when it was rushed on what it considers little more than a novelty market.

In the space of 15 minutes the Cowboys had been backed into $1.30 to snare Bennett's signature, and even then two backers wanted to splurge more.

"They wanted thousands on Bennett, but we sensed it was smart money so the most we would let them have was $1000 each," said Sportingbet's Bill Richmond.

How old is he now? Must be getting on. Doesn't he want to retire to the farm?

Honestly, is there anything this man has left to do in League?

    Default Old Geoffrey!

Hey Old Diehard, just wondering is old Geoffrey still running around up in Brisbane....he must be nearing 60yrs of age I reckon! Now he was a true one-eyed supporter (although he did support Souths when one of the Carr boys was there) if I have ever seen one!

Yeah he is 58 yrs old, you would think that he would love to sit back now with the family and not have to worry about footy anymore.

Honestly if he doesnt retire then i cant see him coach another nrl side, i was thinking perhaps he would go to England, but for some reason i dont know if that would work out. Maybe full time kiwi coach?

He's all about the money now isn't he, not so much the football?
His articles in the paper say he's worried about his disable kids running out of cash whens he's gone. So he's basically stock pilling assests to ensure theres enough for future specialist treatment, cost of living, ect.
The girl from the ring watched a highlights reel of Greg Bird, she died 7 days later.....
