Farah Tigers' player of the year

September 28, 2007 HE missed out on the Dally M medal but Wests Tigers hooker Robbie Farah scooped his club awards with two player of the year gongs.

Farah was a clear cut winner of the best player award and also claimed the Tigers members' award for best player at a sold out grand final luncheon in Leichhardt.

Beaten at the post by North Queensland halfback Johnathan Thurston for the Dally M medal, Farah at least had some solace in his club awards sweep.

Second rower Chris Heighington was named defensive player of the year and teenager Chris Lawrence the rookie of the year.

Farah and Heighington added the Iron Man award to their achievements, joining Dean Collis, John Morris and Taniela Tuiaki in playing all 24 NRL games in 2007.

Dene Halatau claimed the Community award while the Tigers presented a $22,500 cheque to the National Breast Cancer Foundation from the pink numbered jersey promotion earlier in the year and $8000 to the Motor Neurone Foundation from the auction of signed team jerseys.
