    Default Williams re-signs with Cowboys

    from SMH.com.au

North Queensland winger Ty Williams has re-signed with the 2005 NRL runners-up for another four years.

The long term deal capped a dream season for the Innisfail-born 24-year-old which featured his Origin debut for Queensland and the Cowboys' maiden NRL grand final appearance.

Cowboys head coach Graham Murray said Williams was being groomed as a leader at the NRL club.

"It is great news Ty has re-signed with the club, he is a tremendous player," he said.

"We can see him being a good leader in the senior group and for the younger players.

"He adds a lot to the club as a player and as a good individual."

Williams' re-signing was music to the ears of new chief executive Peter Parr who took over from the retired Denis Keeffe at the conclusion of the 2005 season.

"Not only is he a very good footballer, he is a wonderful role model for the youth of North Queensland," he said.

"We are delighted he has decided to extend his contract."

Williams has played 91 first grade games for the Cowboys since debuting in round four, 2002 against the New Zealand Warriors.
Good news for the Cowboys. he will be a QLD winger for years to come IMO

Great signing for the Cowboys though it opens the door for a possible move on Brenton Bowen by the Gold Coast Titans looking for a player with a load of try scoring potential at a really good price

You've got to like Ty Williams, he's an excitement machine.

I don't know too much about Brenton Bowen - can anyone give me a bio/description of his abilities?

Good runner and kicker- he's kicked a few from the sideline- but cannot break into NQ's all-star backline. Plays well for the Young guns though.

    Brenton Bowen
    Born: 21/5/83
    Position: Wing/Fullback
Debut: March 22, 2003 NQ vs Manly
    Stats: 22 appearances - 9 tries - 0 goals

    My opinon on Brent Bowen:
Naturally gifted attacking player much like his cousin Matt with alot of flair to his game. Bowen has the potential to be one of the real lethal finishers in the NRL though is stuck behim the impressive trio of M.Bowen, Williams and Sing.

Defensively he is not as sound as Williams or Sing (not many are) and that is one area in his game that could do with some work.

Definately a rising star in the game who will be a handy replacement for Matt Sing or a really good pick up for the club who lure him away from the Cowboys.

Recently signed a new 2 year deal with North Queensland.
