Gold Coast fan base to be known as the Titans Legion

Thank you for joining as a Legion Member for 2020. We hope you are as excited about the start of the season as we are!

This email is to inform you of an important change to your membership, specifically a change of name to the “Legion” category.

As the Titans usher in a new era in 2020, the Club has determined that our Membership program needs a name to include and define all Titans Members.

Over 13 years, the “Legion” has been the name of our active supporter group. During this time the Legion brand has, thanks to the dedication of many people, become much more than just a membership category.

The Legion supporters group has nearly 10,000 followers across Facebook, Instagram and Twitter and has become synonymous with our most-engaged fans.

From 2020, this active supporter group will now be known as ‘The Legion Frontline’, while all Titans Members and fans will unite under the banner of “The Titans Legion”.

This decision was made in consultation with the members of The Legion Frontline, with a view to having a broad, collective term to unite Titans Members in line with established supporter groups at other NRL clubs.

It was decided the “The Legion” was the perfect fit for this purpose – for its symbolic reference to military and gladiatorial strength, as well as a rallying call for Titans supporters to “Join our Legion”.

Your 2020 Member cards remain valid, and will not need to be reissued. Similarly, your Membership and entitlements remain unchanged an unaffected by this change.

We hope you will embrace “The Legion Frontline” as you always have, and look forward to your support of the Titans again in 2020.

I'm delighted to see the club embrace the Legion mocker as a name for the entire fan base. That was definitely the intention to create a name that could be synonymous with our fans as a whole. But something richer and more imaginative than what may manifest like Titan Army or Blue and Gold Army (That's Parra anyway).

The branding of Legion Frontline for the active support area is great too. It builds on the military theme and communicates what it's about.

I never expected this to happen in 2006. I'm feeling proud.

Here is a bit of history. Back in January 2006 we put it to a vote on the forum and we were all democratic like.

I agree. The language here is telling. This makes fans feel like a true stakeholder of the club. Not just a team.

Try and throw the term around when you can on social media.

I hope they sent the press release to all the commentators. Better yet, call them.
