I don't think they would want to stretch it any further, or they would miss the xmas rush.

tbh i don't think the first dissapointed. for a first effort it was really good, especially considering how poor EA sports games are in this reigon. i get good vibes from this mob.

i'm not really one for computer games, but i'll definately get this. looks great.

Here is a new press release on NRL.com about RL2.

Rugby League 2 video game launches

Rugby League 2, the much anticipated sequel to 2003?s record-breaking Rugby League game, is ready for launch on December 8.

Rugby League 2 has been in development for almost 2 years, and this extra development time certainly shows in the new features and extra attention to detail.

David Robles, Producer of the Rugby League 2 game, is certain that fans of League and of the first Rugby League game will be pleased with the results.

?We really appreciated the fan feedback after the first game, and have had them in mind while developing Rugby League 2,? he explains.

?The game has definitely improved across all areas ? graphics, gameplay, content, audio ? everything has been revamped to give the fans the best league game possible.?

One of the major features of Rugby League 2 is the new ?Franchise Mode?, where gamers can manage their favourite teams right down to buying and selling players.

?Gamers can manage their teams for up to 10 years in Franchise mode,? says Robles, ?They need to select and position players to work well together, keep under the salary cap, watch out for injuries and make sure that crowds are attending the games. Just like in real life, it?s a delicate balance - if your team is losing and crowd size is falling, you may even get fired!?

This realism and attention to detail is also evident in Rugby League 2?s gameplay.

?We really wanted to extend the types of actions players can use on the field as much as we could so that gamers really felt like it was a real match,? says Robles, ?We?ve added actions such as ball stripping, shoulder barges, diving on the loose ball, contesting the high ball and passing to the playmaker.?

The players themselves are also highly realistic ? over 500 players were individually modelled, and player movement animations were motion captured by Weta Digital, the VFX wizards behind The Lord of the Rings movie trilogy.

The introduction of multiplayer online play is another step up from the first Rugby League game.

?We knew that the first game was great to play against friends, so this time around we have included head-to-head online play so that gamers can play against each other online, move up the rankings and build up statistics? says Robles.

Overall, Rugby League 2 has improved, updated and expanded on every aspect of the first game - gamers will enjoy extra content, whole new modes of play, new actions on-field, and super realistic graphics and animations.
Rugby League 2 has already received rave reviews from the gaming media and with phenomenal presale numbers in the lead up to the December 8 release, it looks set to be the number 1 choice for League fans this Christmas.

Key features:
- Multiplayer online play for all platforms, allowing competitive and friendly play over the Internet, player rankings, and statistics
- All major teams and competitions including the NRL, SuperLeague, State of Origin, City versus Country, and a range of International Teams
- Brand new gameplay features including ball stripping, shoulder barges, diving on and kicking the loose ball, contesting the high ball, pass to playmaker and more
- New multi year Franchise Mode, including player contract management, injuries, judiciary, and mid season representative games
- Highly realistic, individually modelled likenesses for over 500 players
- Lifelike animation, motion captured by Weta Digital, the VFX wizards behind The Lord of the Rings movie trilogy
- 40+ accurately modelled stadia from around the world
- All new commentary from Andrew Voss of Channel 9
- Highly customisable game rules and gameplay sliders
- Significantly higher fidelity in-game graphics
- Slicker and more polished presentation throughout the title
