My daughters 9th birthday next week, and i cant decide on wether to buy a new PSP or a Nitendo DS.

My thoughts are that the PSP upside, has better graphics, better screen, better games, a MP3, DVD, and better controls.

Downside on PSP, long loading, Disk format, not many games, and very very expensive.

DS upside, is Cheaper, games are cheaper, will play Gameboy Advance, more titles, Split screen, Pen, mircophone.

Downside on DS is that graphics look crap, like Nintendo 64. Games are mostly old old titles, like Pacman, and Mario. Havnt seen the pen used to great effect yet, and screens look like an old Donkey Kong handheld machine.

Does anyone have one? and could tell me your thoughts

Go the PSP. Much easier when you go on holiday and to let her watch movie's in the car/plane/train. It's a great MP3 player, and you nearly forgot that photo's can be diplsyed on it also.

I garantee you that PSP WILL have a camera attachment in the near future (as mobile phones do if they don't have one built in already).
The PSP will have lot's of "extra's" for next Birthday and Christmas! And don't be fooled be the small amount of games available:

Out Now:
Twisted Metal, SSX, FIFA 06, Marvel: Nemises, NBA Live 06, Coated Arms, Burnout Legends, Soccer, Snooker, Wipe out, Tennis, V8's, Untold Legends, Tony Hawk, Tiger Woods, Spider-Man 2, Ridge Racer, NFS2, NFL Street, NBA street, Midnight Club, Metal Gear Acid, Medievil, Lumines, Fired up, F1, Everybody's Golf, Dynasty Worriors, Darkstalkers Chronicles, Colin McCrae, Archers Maclean Mercury.

And another 13 titles being released THIS MONTH (Just in time for Christmas!)

It helps that Hubby works at JB HiFi. Let me know if you want a deal! (serious)

DS costs a lot less.

I'd say a DS is a lot more suited for a 9 year old.

Can someone tell me what the "gameboy micro" is? I saw it advertised, and was kinda confused why they'd be selling the DS and micro at the same time.

PSP all the way!

DS is just another nintendo fad that will only last for a short time.

Don't forget she'll be a Teenager in a few years and will use it for an MP3 player! If your going to spend money on it, make it last!
