Maori Win Second Test
Aaron Heremaia scored two tries to help the New Zealand Maori team beat Cook Islands 30-14 in their rugby league match at Rugby Park in Gisbourne last night.
The Tawera Nikau-coached NZ Maori scored five tries to three but only took charge of the game in the second half after the Kevin Iro-coached Cooks led 14-12 at the break.
NZ Maori 30 (Aaron Heremaia 2, Thomas Gemmell, Nathan Hohaia, Tawhio Davis tries; Richard Retimana 5 goals), Cooks Islands 14 (Turori Matupu, Nathan Ford, Brian Thomas tries; M Mitchell goal). Halftime: 12-14.
Under 18: Cook Island 38 NZ Maori 34.
Cook Islands for their tiny pop have done amazingly well.
