The Gold Coast Titans have released plans for a multi-million dollar, sophisticated lounge bar in the heart of Surfers Paradise.
The "Titanium Bar" is set to greatly enhance the entertainment landscape on the Gold Coast, offering players, sponsors and supporters of the Gold Coast Titans with a unique and plush venue in which to celebrate and enjoy the spoils of the Titans on-field efforts.
A massive refurbishment of the former Pink Elephant Bar & Grill is scheduled for completion in late October 2006, when the exquisite lounge bar with a strong sporting focus opens its doors to greet the first patrons.
Titans Managing Director Michael Searle today unveiled conceptual drawings and plans of "The Titanium Bar" which he says ties in perfectly with the nearby Vibe Hotel's multi million dollar upgrade and the new Circle on Cavill precinct.
Searle said, "The Titanium Bar will be the official off-field home of the Titans as we move towards our inaugural National Rugby League Premiership season. It is also a branding statement in the heart of Surfers Paradise for visitors to our wonderful city.
"The club and the playing roster look forward to meeting and mixing with our sponsors and supporters in what will be a truly sensational venue, unique to the Gold Coast."
A spectacular riverside restaurant will complement the lounge Bar, with respected Sydney hotelier and "Titanium Bar" Licensee Eddie O'Grady promising an ever changing, modern Australian menu.
"The aim is to reward the Titans supporters by providing a first class venue, great dining and a wide range of sophisticated entertainment," O'Grady said.
Michael Searle says securing Eddie O'Grady as licensee of the venue was another coup for the Club and the Gold Coast.
"Eddie's experience and love for rugby league will ensure the bar reflects what our patrons want, a high class venue with a quality fit out that will reinforce that the Titans are all about top class entertainment," Searle said.
DBI Design's - Executive Interior Designer Greg Farrell, heads the design team while Bezzina Group (Developers of the luxurious Jade on Surfers Paradise Beach) has been appointed to build the Titanium Bar. Farrell is looking forward to seeing his exciting visual concepts become a reality.
Farrell said, "The Titans new Titanium Bar promises to bring a new and vibrant life to one of the more memorable old venues of the Gold Coast bar scene."
Executive Designer Greg Farrell's thoughts on the design and plans for the "Titanium Bar"
* From outside in, the building will be given an entire facelift.
* The front entrance will include a variety of materials including new and prominent feature signage reaching 14.5 metres into the sky.
* The striking and distinctive metal clad entry awning has been designed to reach out to the street, drawing guests in through to the newly configured bars, restaurants and gaming rooms.
* The existing park or sports bar area is to be enlarged and extended with a new double volume roofed area over the existing terrace and BBQ area.
* The new park bar will incorporate a combination of areas including a dedicated TAB as well as lounge seating and expansive dance floors surrounded by numerous plasma and projection screens providing the ultimate viewing for all types of sport and visual effects.
* The existing balcony area is to have continued roof coverage, operable opening windows with low and high level seating over-looking the park and river views.
* One of the building's many features is the rising stairs, leading from the new bar areas to the enlarged and luxurious new toilet areas with specific thought and effort being given to a private sanctuary and powder room adjoining the timber and mosaic lined female toilet area.
* The powder room is to be furnished with exquisite ottomans and dressing tables and lined with soft draping fabric providing privacy to the full height natural window over-looking the pace and activity of Ferny Avenue.
* Linking directly from the vibrant active Park Bar and dance area will be an expanded and luxurious lounge bar and river dining restaurant area.
* Timber lined walls with leather upholstered sofas and ottomans on lush metallic rugs surrounded by specialist flowing metal mesh will create the luxurious club feel.
* The centrally located marble clad 'island bar' will be a focal point between the lounge areas, outdoor balcony, and small but exciting dining area furnished with Philippe Starck designed polished metallic chairs, back dropped by caviar glass balled walls.
* The rivers edge lounge/dining balcony is to be furnished with soft contemporary 'daybed' style seating suitable for lounging and enjoying afternoon ****tails by the river or intimate dinners in the evening and all with the flexibility of an operable opening roof for the warm summer evenings.
