THE Gold Coast Titans have signed Banora Point teenager Sam Ross to a two-year-deal after the young front-rower played a starring role at the Australian Schoolboys Championships in Perth last week.
The 14-year-old, who stands 187cm tall and weighs in at 105kg, has signed a youth development contract with the Titans who will make their debut in the NRL next year.
Ross and fellow Tweed teenagers Jayden Kelly and Ryan James were part of the NSW Combined Catholic Colleges team that downed Queensland Schoolboys 18-14 in the championship final.
"We had a really good team and we were undefeated throughout the tournament," Ross said.
The St Joseph?s student has only played rugby league for three years but has used his size, and size 15 feet, to stamp his mark on the field and attract the attention of talent scouts.
Ross will be part of the Titans academy squad and attend regular training camps with the elite players.
"It?s a great stepping stone for him and we?re happy to have him with us," Titans junior recruitment manager Tom Searle said.
