Wolves maul Leeds in revival
From correspondents in Warrington, England

Warrington 44, Leeds 16

WARRINGTON has made it five wins in six Super League matches as it thrashed Leeds at home.

The Wolves ran in eight tries with winger Henry Fa'afili scoring a hat-trick while Rob Parker scored two and Paul Rauhihi, Jon Clarke and Richie Barnett also crossed Leeds's try-line.

Lee Briers kicked six goals in a victory that left Warrington fourth in the 12-team table.

Leeds remained second but missed the chance to close within four points of leader St Helens in a match where it managed tries from Lee Smith, Rob Burrow and Danny McGuire.

Leeds made the brighter start with Smith scoring the first of the match's 11 tries in the fourth minute, but it did not take long for Warrington to respond when Fa'afili scored the first of his treble when he went in at the corner.

Warrington then upped the pressure when Rauhihi brushed aside a lightweight tackle to score his team's second try, with Barnett and Parker topping off an impressive first-half effort from the Wolves.

The diminutive Burrow hit back for the visitors after the break, but any hopes of a Leeds comeback were ended 15 minutes from time when Parker took Briers's pass for his second try.

Thats a fantastic result for the SL. The more the Big 4 lose to so called lower teams the better the comp becomes. Look at the top of the ladder and it is still dominated by Bradford, Leeds & St.Helens. Wigan has dropped off, and others like Hull & Salfiord are making inroads. The whole comp has become tighter with the Broncos (now the Quins) making the 6 last year. It is gradually evening out.

Oh and Deegs, WOOHOO Go the Wolves....

Remind us Dakink...you follow who again? Les Catalans? :D

I tend to agree, looking at the bigger picture, Leeds being defeated by Warrington is great for the Super League competition. Personally, I am none to pleased for obvious reasons and hope the replay will be on FOX. To be trounced like that is something I would not have predicted at all this season by any other team outside of St Helens.

Fair play to the Wolves, good win too.

BTW, Cliffy_GC, Peter Sharp got Hull FC across the line - what was this bet again? Hull FC to be relegated if Sharpe is in charge? Hmm...
