Titans: Dear Captain Charger...

Ok members, there is a chance I might know ol' Captain Charger who has long retired from the spandex suit. Given the fascination out there with our former mascot, I am going to give you all the opportunity to forward on any of life's little tricky questions and I will get you the answers from the man himself.

Do you need help with that nagging partner?

What about your tipping, stuck on the Friday night game?

Need an argument settled about the 1990 Miss Universe Pagent?

Post the questions, I will get them answered.

Is DeeGan really Captain Charger? ;) And if not (very unlikely) who is the man behind the mask? :)

Answer from the Captain: "No, Deegan is not the man behind the mask and no I am not revealing my true identity. In my retirement I am now an undercover Super Hero for Neighbourhood Watch programs on the Sunshine Coast. In my spare time I call many a local bingo game and run water for mini Captain Charger's football side.

"The man behind the mask will not be revealed - I can safely say I am not Searle, Cartwright, Broughton, Knell, Burns, Sattler or Deegan. The rumour that I was Sam Backo is a complete lie as well."

Answer from the Captain: "I have never been able to turn down a can of KB with my mate Reg Regan which has gotten us both in all sorts of drama when touring with Country firsts side back in the 70's.

"Mrs Charger in her spandex suit on our honeymoon crippled my super powers too. We will leave it at that."

On a good day I am not getting into that famous suit - trust me  Sam Backo might have had more chance in his hey day :D

Think this is a tongue in cheek thread ;-)

Not a serious attempt at defrocking the legend..

Dear Captain Charger,
My friend has informed me on a number of times of a certain occurance during a chargers game. He claims you were throwing free minifootballs into the crowd, but your throwing arm was so weak they were blowing back in the wind and you were having quite a hard time of it. Is your arm really so shamefully weak? Are you deceiving us all with styrofoam muscles, when infact you throw like a girl?

Answer from the Captain: "I remember that day vividly - the winds were gale force that day my friend and Joe Montana would of had a hard time of that day.

"Is my arm shamefully weak? I do 1000 push ups a day one handed on each arm and I also auditioned for a part in the movie with Sylvester Stallone that was about arm wrestling in the USA though was knocked back as the spandex uniform was not allowed to remain.

"I did throw a mean cricket ball from the boundary fence in my Under 14 cricketing days - some said I was a chance in the Major Leagues in America as a pitcher.

"That day your friend did not see the best of old Captain Charger sadly...."

Captain, what was the secret to the massive bulge in your shorts?

Viagra or some well placed socks?

Answer from the Captain: "No comment - speculation has been there since 1997 when I was involved in a minor incident with the then Illawarra Steelers mascot. I will not comment further."

Dear Captain Charger:

I just saw Ergon Energy Man on the big screen at Suncorp Stadium today and he looked alot like you...Is he any relation to yourself, or is he a cheap rip-off? ;)

Answer from the Captain: "That is Cousin Ergon - cheap imitation of myself though he always looked up to me as long as I can remember. Still alot of room for improvement in his preparation and on field performance admittedly."

(c) charger....what inspired you to become a mascot? was it the atmosphere of the games or the fact you got to wear those really tight uniforms?

The ol' Captain is celebrating ANZAC Day and has not been seen since leaving for the Dawn Service.

We will track him down for the answers to the above two questions tomorrow.
