Gold Coast captain and five-eighth Paul Anoleck was a deserved winner of the Player of the Queensland Police Services Rugby League State Championships after spearheading them to the title.
The former Burleigh forward was all class as the Gropers stifled the brilliance of Torres Strait Warriors in the grand final, winning 36-12 after opening up a 26-nil half-time lead.
Their coach Ryan Clark said he had led them ?absolutely well?? over their four matches after earlier wins against Brisbane Bulldogs 12-4, Central Queensland 2816 and Northern Stingers 46-nil.
Anoleck was also one of seven Gropers chosen in the Queensland team to take on New South Wales Police in Dubbo on May 14.
The team also includes former NRL players
Championship convenor David Batt said the carnival at Across The Waves Sports Complex was ?fantastic??, with former top NRL referee Bill Harrigan, who controlled the final and was guest speaker at their championship dinner, also very well received.
