Disappointing to hear Souths Juniors delegates taking the path they are treading. Hopefully the board wont be as petty.

By trying to take the count to court, Piggins and crew just look like bitter losers, it wasnt as if it was a simple majority. Three Quarters of the club want him gone. He is that arragont that he believes that on the vote of 25% of the members of the club that he should be in power. Sounds like a dictator if I have ever heard one.

Deal 'could cost Souths millions'

SOUTH Sydney's privatisation might have landed $3 million, but according to junior league officials the deal will cost the Rabbitohs $1 million a year.

Amid a renewed push for a recount of the vote that delivered the Rabbitohs to Russell Crowe and Peter Holmes a Court, angry Souths Juniors delegates yesterday revealed why they voted to tell the board to cut the rich club's support.

Ray Teuma, one of the Juniors delegates who voted on the funding cut, yesterday branded any attempts to distance Monday night's decision from the privatisation "absolute balderdash".

"Why should we put money into the pockets of millionaires? They've made their bed, now they can lie in it," said Teuma, secretary of Chelsea JRLFC.

The recommendation was also a by-product of lingering bitterness from the controversial March 19 ballot, when former Juniors presidents Henry Morris and Frank Cookson were jeered.

But there was support for the funding from Souths director Jim Hatfield.

"We need each other. You might have an argument with your wife but you don't get up and leave her, do you?" Hatfield said yesterday.

Juniors president Keith McCraw said his board would consider the delegates' recommendation when they made a final decision on the funding.

McCraw claimed any withdrawal would be balanced by a new commitment to lure country juniors to Redfern.

But the new owners could still face a roadblock to their takeover - which is due to take place in 25 days.

Denied a recount of the vote last Thursday, George Piggins tabled a new request to Souths' lawyers on Monday.

Piggins' latest move was followed up by his last-remaining Souths boardroom ally Sol Bellear, whose lawyer yesterday wrote to the Rabbitohs' legal advisers requesting a look at the ballot.
