Actually their fan base wants and needs Sunday games so it's good for them. And good for us to have a derby on a Sunday.

Imagine trying to take your family to games, only to be presented with Friday after Friday at home.

Yes they do, but their fans hate it. At least the ones that attend games and want to take families.

I keep hearing that DH but the crowds they draw to weekend day games are usually not that great.

Broncos vs Sharks - Saturday - R7 2019 27,638
Broncos vs Titans - Sunday - R4 2018 30,742
Broncos vs Raiders - Saturday - R16 2018 30,495
Broncos vs Warriors - Sunday - R18 2018 37,492
Broncos vs Manly - Sunday - R25 2018 41,538
Broncos vs Dragons - Sunday - F1 2018 47,296
No Saturday or Sunday home games in 2017. Ouch.
Broncos vs Knights - Saturday- R7 2016 30,394
Broncos vs Eels - Saturday - R8 2015 34,398
Broncos vs Wests Tigers - Sunday - R19 2015 37,260
Broncos vs Cowboys - F1 2015 50,388

The crowds aren't amazing, as you say, not that great, but the fans need some type of normality to have games on the weekend. The Broncos, NRL and the broadcasters have trained fans to do something else on weekends for a very long time.

It's quite ridiculous to have one team representing Brisbane, another thing to have so many games on Thursday and Friday, which means it is a very different game day routine for fans. And maybe a very different cohort of fans. Most have to organise after work on Thursdays and Fridays. IMO it really is a dereliction of duty to the game to not be offering more games to people in greater Brisbane on weekends.

My point is our games with other QLD teams have gradually gone from being shown at the prime time slot of 7:30pm Friday on 9 and Fox to now being completely relegated on Fox...and an early afternoon game at that.

And DH, that's a good point and I know they've wanted more afternoon games up there but if if the NRL was serious about rivalry between QLD clubs then they would have put it in the 4pm time slot, which they haven't.

I know I'm being picky and most of us have Kayo or Fox anyway but I still feel it's a slap in the face to us that we don't get all games against QLD clubs on a popular time slot like the Cows and Broncs do. We are just not respected and it doesn't take a genius to see it.

Despite all the negative comments about Brennan, I never hope we lose a game and would rather hope for some miracle that this season turns around. If we do lose as seems likely then, yes, it should be one of the final nails. This game should be one of the great derby games but we have let it down for many years and while we love to beat them, to Broncs supporters it is just a game against a lowly team.

It’s hard to really say much when you are naive to the issues. Hopefully the $20k a week that we all contribute into his bank account helps to speed up the recovery process.

The rest of us with our own life pressures be they work, family, financial, health, mental health, relationships etc will all I’m sure nonetheless turn up to our own workplaces in the morning and get on with it because that’s what we do in The Beautiful Little City.

Looking forward to seeing our men have a crack at The Drongoes come Sunday.

Just received this email from the Titans

"Dear
Gold Coast Titans halfback Ashley Taylor is taking time out from the game to deal with personal issues.

In consultation with the club, Taylor, 24, has today been granted leave until further notice from his training and playing commitments.

On behalf of Ashley and his family, we ask the media and the public to respect their privacy.

No further comment will be made at this time by the Titans, Ashley, his management or his family."

I'll hold fire until we know further info that will come out once the journos start digging, however I am over this type of crap in general. I can assure any employer that wants to pay me a million a year I can handle most things and still turn up to work and give a decent effort.
However I'll wait and see, but my first thoughts are that he must have had these issues for about a season and a half now.

I reckon. Even if I am a total ******** there is nothing in the post thats not true or relevant. I do wish for him to deal with whatever is troubling him that he has to deal with mid season right now when our club is really struggling rather than in the near 6 months of the off season, be great to see him smiling and up and about and that’s definitely what I want for him but it doesn’t change the fact that many people with similar and greater pressures with much less resources and support Will rock up to their workplace tomorrow and keep having a crack.

Starting to think this club has a curse on it for killing careers. We need to rent a gypsy to remove it.

Don't forget Bods that it's because of his workplace or his job is possibly the reason why he isn't able to front up. The online pasting he gets on forums and FB alone coupled with the professional journos writing about his form would be enough to send you into hiding. Most of us that would be able to rock up to their workplace aren't under the scrutiny that he is at his workplace. Even dropping to QCup would still have him in the spotlight.

Michael Gordon has a blood clot in close proximity to brain or the pathway to the brain. Doctors have advised no contact and no training until a surgical procedure can be decided upon, poor guy has a family history of clots so he may end up retiring early. May need to pull up someone like Martin from the dogs to be a specialist goal kicker

Your entitled to your view. I’ve solidly stated mine in the post that upset you and in the ones following. I’m all for providing resources, leave entitlements from the workplace and a financial safety net for your everyday battlers that are struggling with the myriad of curve balls that life throws up at people.

Broncos v Titans: Preview
https://www.titans.com.au/news/2019/06/06/broncos-v-titans-preview/

The form guide points to a Broncos victory but it's a local derby and the boys from the big smoke have a way of bringing the best out of the Titans.

Last week's home loss to a Cowboys side missing a couple of its best players was probably the last straw for some Titans fans and it'll be interesting to see how they bounce back from such an ordinary display - maybe not from a defensive standpoint but certainly offensively.

Gold Coast halfback Ash Taylor has been granted leave by the Titans and is out of the side.

The Broncos have won their past three games and Anthony Seibold will check on the fitness of his Origin players before finalising his side.

Team news
Broncos: The Broncos welcome back hooker Andrew McCullough (knee) for his first game since round eight while young forward Thomas Flegler (back) also returns. McCullough has been named on the bench with Jake Turpin retaining the starting job. Flegler's return forces Patrick Carrigan to the reserves list. Anthony Seibold has named his full Origin contingent of Corey Oates, Matt Gillett, Payne Haas, David Fifita and Joe Ofahengaue to back up four days after the series opener in Brisbane.

Titans: No dramatic moves for Garth Brennan, with Origin rep Jai Arrow returning at lock for Jai Whitbread and Jack Stockwell dropped to the reserves. The most notable inclusion among the reserves is Nathan Peats, who is returning from a pec injury.

With Taylor out, Tyrone Roberts has to take it upon himself to provide direction and leadership in the halves. The Titans clearly need someone to be that player and Roberts might be their best bet. If he can out-wit Broncos playmaker Anthony Milford the Titans might spring an upset.

For the Broncos to win
The Broncos should be fired up to blow the Titans off the park in the first 20 minutes and have the game effectively put to bed by half-time. If they get out to an early lead it's hard to see the Titans digging their way out of a hole, although they did exactly that against Manly a couple of weeks ago. But the Broncos have too much to play for at this stage of the season and as long as they have the right attitude they should be too strong.

For the Titans to win
As much as they miss a tough leader like Ryan James, this team should've won more games with the talent they have on the roster. We're halfway through the season and it's time they all got on the same page.

Brett Kimmorley says
The Broncos are ready to go on a winning streak. They’ve got a very good pack of forwards but some of them will have to back up after Origin for the first time. Anthony Milford is the key for them. I don’t really know what the Titans are trying to do in attack. I think big brother might give little brother a bit of a lesson. Broncos by 14

Stat Attack
Not that they want to be, but Alex Glenn and Matt Gillett are the NRL's top two players for ineffective tackles, with 26 and 24 respectively, while winger Corey Oates is equal second in errors (21). Anthony Milford has kicked the most field goals (3), while the Broncos have the most intercepts (7) as a team.

And another thing ...
The Titans and Broncos have developed a healthy big brother-little brother rivalry over the years and you're never really sure what to expect from their clashes, regardless of ladder positions. That was the case last year when the Titans sprung a 26-14 upset in their first meeting before the Broncos exacted revenge with a 34-0 rout in their second clash.

DIEHARD
07-06-19, 03:50 PM
As far as the pressure goes, playing professional sport is not comparable to my job. I clock off and that is more or less it. I don't have to carry the hopes of an entire fanbase and have to perform under frame by frame scrutiny.

For those reasons I have sympathy for our game's players.

We've all been disappointing with his form over the recent years and its fair to criticise that.

Obviously our game has some serious issues with young people not copping with life and the pressures of professional sport and the spotlight it brings. For those reasons I just hope that Ash finds himself and what makes/made him happy and can perhaps rebuild. I think we can agree that good players are at their best when they enjoy themselves and for sometime it has looked like he has not been enjoying himself.

DIEHARD

This game should be one of the great derby games but we have let it down for many years and while we love to beat them, to Broncs supporters it is just a game against a lowly team.

Very true. And until we can start demanding some respect this derby wont be anything like what it should be. If it reaches its potential it will be one of the major reasons why our club rockets into relevance with fans, journos, business and broadcasters. Less heartbreak would be good too.

Beating the Broncos has always been my #1 reason for being a Titans fan. I'm from Brisbane, I used to support them. I understand them and hate them.

So Cartwright’s out today, and Boyd was dropped from the 21 yesterday. If Peats comes in as I expect then our bench will be pretty small with Peats, Peachey, Whitbread and Stockwell. Very strange bench and I think Boyd’s size would’ve actually been good for us against Haas, Lodge and Pangai Jr.

TPJ giving away penalties and dropping more balls than Hipgrave yet no one would say he would never get a gig at another club. Hipgrave has given away 3 penalties this YEAR. Let's not make judgments on his rep rather than his current form.

Oh come on, Hipgrave is not even half the player TPJ is. TPJ seems to have hit a bad patch but we've already seen his potential which is more than I can say for Hipgrave. It's not even a fair comparison.

Yeah I know, just saying, instead of tearing him apart let's tear apart the Broncheats players. He's not perfect or polished but he does bring something out there. I'd have him out there before Wallace today, who I notice had a 15 minute break before going back out. Great interchange again.

Always good to beat the Broncos, it's always the highlight of my year too JB (although I would love finals or a premiership to be instead..) but would've liked to keep it going and put 30-40 on them.

Honestly as a club we should just be taking the time to give these juniors and young blokes a chance. Arthar's has been solid without being spectaculr, Mo is the shining light of the year and consistently finds his front for a quick play the ball, Brimson is just a backyard footy player who loves to play footy and not to mention Whitbread who's been solid too. Rather than buying big name players that burn us (Peachey, Idris, Hayne, do i need to go on?) lets focus on just playing blokes who show a bit of heart and effort for the jersey.

The last three games a loss to the cows by 2 and big away wins against manly and Broncos. Frustrating in the context of the way this season has done.

MoFo is quickly becoming one of our best players, the guy gives it his all. There were a few times where he took 2 hit ups a set, and he bent the line back every time for 175m. Considering he's only 19 I reckon he's close to our best young Prop prospect ever, with Ryan James the only other one I can think of right now.

Yeah I agree Bodsy it's a bit disappointing how little discussion there is on here after one of our best win of the year. We've obviously had a very disappointing season and have lost so many games that we should've won, but I think one of the positives we can take is that we haven't really been smashed at all this season and have been in pretty much every game. Teams like the Eels, Warriors, Dragons, Bulldogs, Broncos, Knights etc have all had games where they've lost by 30+, with the Eels even having 64 put on them. Off the top of my head I think our biggest defeat would be 21-0 against the Raiders in round 1. If only we could've converted those close games into wins we'd be sitting in the top 6 right now.

What you said Hangingon.

We should have beat cowboys twice, up 14-0,16-0 and 18-10 against three teams, and havent been flogged since round one.

For all of our garbage we could easily be top 6 with some luck or execution at the right time.

No one to blame but ourselves, but there are bigger basket cases than us out there

Yeah exactly mate, imagine how the fans would be carrying on if we had 64 put on us like Parra. We actually haven’t conceded more than 20 points in a month, it’s just been some stupidity/bad luck that has cost us.

There is obviously a lot of talent in this team and the only position I think we really need to get stronger in is the second row. This side could push for the top 4 with someone like Bellamy as coach, it’s not like we need a dramatic rebuild.

yeah i have said this earlier in year, there is no excuses for poor results, coaching is the difference maker and ours hasn't made enough of a difference as yet.

and as an aside to the top 6 top 8 talk, this is probably the weakest competitive season since maybe 2010 so we shouldn't get too excited about dreaming of woulda couldas in this poor top 8.

BundyTitan
09-06-19, 10:40 PM
I think the main reason for the lack of excitement and talk is the fact that us Titans fans are scared of being over confident. So many times in the last 5-6 years we've had a big victory that should kickstart a flurry of wins but instead the next week we get belted and have our pants pulled down. Good win yes but we also really started showing our true bad colours in those last 15 minutes and I hate to say it but another 5 minutes and I reckon we lose that game.

Extremely happy to finally get a win (and against the Broncos is the sweetest win of all) but not getting cocky over one victory when who knows how we will go against NZ next week.

Titslover
09-06-19, 10:48 PM
Hahah there’s no doubt about that Bundy, I was fully expecting us to lose today when they started throwing the ball down, and I’ll probably tip the Warriors this week too. It’s so frustrating that we can score 36 one week, 4 the next and then 26 the next.

Was great to see us beat the broncos especially on their home turf. Agree what others have echoed. I contacted the club and cancelled my membership after the cowboys game and still thought it was the right decision. While I will always support this club the failure to act on mistakes made in the past called for me to vote with my wallet as insignificant a contribution as it was. Had a really good chat to the membership team and its great to know we have people like that working at the club. Its up to the players and the organisation now to make me want to join back up for membership now and i hope to bloody hell that they do.
