John Cartwright finds it refreshing to be involved with the junior rugby league players who are the future of the sport.
The coach of the Gold Coast Titans team, which will join the NRL next year, is keen to spread the news about his side.
?It?s very important for kids out here (in Warwick) to realise it?s not just the Broncos in Queensland anymore, but there?s another club for kids to support and aim to eventually play for,? Mr Cartwright said.
Mr Cartwright and Titans regional training officer Gavin Judd helped train Warwick's Eastern Suburbs Junior Rugby League Club players yesterday afternoon.
Club president John Bradfield said the club hoped to have a training day next year which would incorporate other Warwick and district junior clubs.
?It?s just for our club this time but hopefully it gets bigger and better,? Mr Bradfield said.
Mr Cartwright said he was excited about how close the Titans were to their first NRL game.
?Our jumper was just launched and it is becoming very close with each event,? he said.
He said as the Titans hadn?t filled their side yet ? there are only eight players ? he couldn?t have any expectations about how the team would go.
?But we aim to be very competitive,? he said.
His focus was on helping the up-and-coming stars yesterday, who were all keen to receive his advice.
?They?re a bit mischievous,? he said of junior players.
?But they have a great attitude ... all they want to do is play the game.?
