Bears announce coaching change

Burleigh Bears head coach Carl Briggs has been replaced by assistant coach Jimmy Lenihan for the remainder of the 2014 season.

CEO Damian Driscoll said it was an extremely difficult decision to make but it is a decision that is in the best interests of the Burleigh Bears club.

Driscoll thanked Briggs and hoped he wasn’t lost to the club.

“Carl has been a tireless worker and contributor to the club. Part of his role at the club has been working in junior development on the Gold Coast. I hope he will continue in this role at the club.”

Lenihan is no stranger to the Intrust Super Cup and the Burleigh club having coached there from 2006-2009. He also had a successful stint at Bilambil in the Gold Coast competition including an A Grade premiership.

New coach has shifted ahwang to wing and michaels to centre.

Hes also brought up a player from the grade below to play at the other centre.

Cant understand the ahwang and michaels switch

Briggs was pretty much put on notice to get the team performing & after the Seagulls flogging the writing was on the wall as the season isn't lost yet so Lenihan was offered the job for the rest of the season..

Jim is no stranger to the club he's had them at the high's & low end of the competition before & he's also so been sacked from the Bears so lets hope he can get them on their winning way again.

This weeks team looks much stronger Anderson being dropped from the centres
