QLD Maroons coach Mal Meninga says form, not blind loyalty, will determine whether Justin Hodges returns to the Queensland side in his fightback from a career-threatening achilles injury.

Hodges will start for the first time this season on Friday night against the Titans, having launched his brave comeback from the bench in last week’s 25-18 loss to the Eels.

A veteran of 18 Origin games, Hodges is Queensland’s incumbent right centre and is widely expected to be one of the first picked for the series opener on May 28 at Suncorp Stadium.

Meninga is a huge fan of Hodges, supporting him through a series of injury battles since his coaching appointment in 2006, but insists no Maroons player is a selection untouchable.
