Well Greg wants me to make him a new Greg Bird banner, which Im gonna design and make up soon. Ive done that I will be open to help people realise some banner ideas. Not just restricted to the Titans either.

So I will be designing and producing the banner, ready to go.

That's interesting... I wonder if that banner will be there tomorrow...

Yes I'll be there, I wonder if its just those front six rows...

That'd be a disappointment to people like you and me and many others who love the elevation also important to spread out flags for visual impact.

If the banner is left there at least it'll be seen on TV, might be annoying as it blocks access and some good flag waving position.

I will say that moving the Legion to it's new home is a masterstroke. The group I sit with (members sitting together for the past few years now) all commented on how much better we can hear the Legion now. And, as a result, it will be much more likely for the Eastern side to engage and join with the Legions chants. Given it was a small crowd yesterday, it was still noticeable, with people joining into the chants.

Also, one of the reasons I never really wanted to join the Legion was due to its location. Sitting behind the sticks at ground level is about as bad a position as you can get at a footy field. Now you are in a position that justifies your efforts, and the price you pay for tickets.

There is the usual start-of-season uncertainty from the gate security on what can and can not be brought into the stadium. I almost had a massive barney with a woman working the bag search at entry because I had 2 water bottles from home, and she told me they couldn't be brought in. Long story short, they now have the list written and stuck to the tables where you do the bag search so I pointed out to her where it said about drinks form home, but she then did what most people with a little bit of authority and no idea how to do their jobs usually do, started telling me it was up to her to decide what comes in etc etc....

My Mrs dragged me away before I got started :argue:, and the other security just gave me that look of "yep, you are right, sorry, she is a pain in the a$$".

Anyway, the point is, the list is written in black and white on the entrance tables, so if you do what that list says, then you should have no problem.

I think the move is a great idea.... Half the reason I had a great day actually...

But I did notice at least two families with kids move elsewhere in the stadium with shade (just like alot of fans from all over the stadium did). Both grumbling about the heat and how it's ruined there day, and I don't blame them... The conditions were horrendous (I was in that sun for the good part of 5 hours).

I fear the heat has put a dampener on what is a great move by the club, and a fresh start for supporters...

I also had dramas getting stuff in past security, but they learnt soon enough...

Moving The Legion is good because itll help with stadium atmosphere and look better on tv. But it has two main draw backs, the heat and the cost. Hopefully the cost can be managed. I know in the past the Roosters, Bulldogs and Rabbitohs moved their groups into the tv arc.

Probably... Which is a shame coz by the end of the game, 50% of people were gone, leaving about a dozen people left...lol

Sandwiches! Wonderful sandwiches for all!

I used to put this info in the Legion Mail newsletters I did, to encourage people to save money and make it a more addordable day.

This information isn't promoted enough.

The rules still are too harsh. Rugby League is the reason the facility exists yet the supporters, ordinary people, are bled dry.

C-Whiz, I remember you fancy yourself as a bit of a crooner, a bit of a songstress.... :eyebrows:Haha, yeah mate, I'm a regular Diana Ross....

I did spend the first 4, 5 or 6 years trying to get some songs and chants organised, and we've had a few goes along the way, but now that I sit up with my family in the NE corner it isn't something I have been pushing.

I lost enthusiasm for a proper team song around the same time Mr May lost his job. I think it is something that is important for bonding fans together, and I still feel it is probably the single biggest missed opportunity the Titans have had to unite all the fans with a song we can sing together. I know I am not alone with this thought.

I did have a little bit of a faith renewal with Mr May when he informed us at the fan forum that a team song was definitley on the list of things to get done. I fear that that dream may have died with his involvement with the club. I can still only assume Searle is waiting to find a way to make money off a team song, that he can own the licence to etc and charge royalities for it's use etc. I can not fathom any other reason a club that is now 8 years old still does not have a club/team song.

Especially when....

1. We were up against Gold Coast United, a soccer team which is a sport with a noted supporter culture.
2. AFL, they all have team songs which is part of their match day tradition.

It would have been wise to get in ahead of both.

I'm sure I will be called an AFL troll for doing this but what the hell. I think it was GCT_89 who stated the game day experience at Metricon is much better and I have to agree with him. Have a look at some of the things they are doing this weekend:

Kids:
Petting zoo
Mechanical football (like a mechanical bull)
Double splash slide
Putt Putt golf
Interactive games
Stilt walkers
Balloon twisters
Unicyclists
AFL Playground
McDonald's Fun Zone
People dressed up as Hamburglar, Southport Sharks mascot and Gold Coast Suns mascot

Crust Pizza Bar
Piazza section of seats
Live band at 5th quarter bar
Free Big Mac if Suns win
Oval next to stadium accessible at any time during the match
TATTSBET betting site
Patrons allowed on the ground to kick a football after the game

It might seem a bit too much like a carnival but you'd be hard pressed to find a kid that wouldn't enjoy those activities. The effort they are putting in is enormous and I only saw a few blow up castles out the front of Cbus when I went to the Rabbitohs game a few weeks ago.

The AFL troll raises a few good points, particularly the bit about going on the ground after the match and I could definitely go a Crust pizza during the game.

For those members who aren't aware, the Titans are bringing back the members deal at the HQ cafe (or whatever it is called). I think it is just a meat pie, chips and drink or something like that, not the yummy hotdog deal, but at least they are doing something again.

Starting Round 11? That's a shame it wasn't in place since Round 1.

Unfortunately CSF has not told the full story - he really should be a News Ltd journalist. The reason the Suns are doing these things for the kids this weekend is because they are advertising it as a FAMILY DAY. Of course then they are going to have kids and adults activities. For his info the Titans always have face painting, rock climbing, pass the ball as well as his mentioned blow up castles.
If you are going to post and continue the AFL love affair CSF then present the facts. FFS.

I did say they were doing it this weekend, not every home game. I saw the pass the ball and the blow up castles when I went to the game a few weeks ago. Face painting and a handball thing is also offered by the Suns at every game so that's something I forgot. I guess the biggest problem with those activities at Robina is the fact that it is located outside of the stadium (from what I could see). I'm sure a lot of families just walk past them so they can get through the gates. None of the Suns activities are held outside the gates.

Mate, it's not like I went snooping everywhere around the stadium to find out what they do. I just stated what I saw. I even said that in my post. The thread is intended to have posters give ideas on how to improve the game day experience and I thought a lot of those that I suggested were reasonable. It's not like the two clubs can't learn from each other?

My apologies, you did say this weekend but I (and probably many others) read it as being a routine thing and that you conveniently forgot to mention that this is promoted as a family weekend with heavily discounted family tickets.
You are right that it would be beneficial that Titans activities be held past the gates but that is obviously not possible. The clubs can and do learn from each other and for people like me who don't want to pay full price for memberships to both clubs to offer a discount rate if you want to take both would be good. I know that this would be seen as criminal in Victoria but why not here when both clubs struggle for crowds.
I look forward to you posting some photos of the baby lambs from the petting zoo.

The Titans have a lot of those things at the game as well but the problem is that it is all outside the gates....

I had a great time last game running around with the footy on the ground at full time....

But the Original idea for this thread is more ADULT fun, like beer and other types of beer related ideas...lol

Members bar at NE corner of stadium do a members draw at half time for prizes at every game.... And celebrating there after a win while you wait for the train crowds to die down is always great....

The members bar in the NE corner is a God-send. Sure, it's great to have a half time draw, if you can be bothered heading down for it (I always forget about it) but the best thing is you can actually get REAL drinks (full strength) for only an extra dollar or two, including cider.

Having 150 lashes on tap makes me very happy.:drinkies::salute:

I always have a few there before the game but as I sit in section 7 I don't bother at half time. Despite the price, having a Corona at the footy is good. We must catch up one day.
(off topic I know but I notice your messages of support for Titan68 - how sad is that. I can't imagine how I would handle something like that but he is obviously doing it very tough. Just told my wife about it and she went to water. I feel a bit useless being up here and I hope he has support down there).

I'd like to get this Thread going again. I know it's too late for this year but let's look ahead for next year. I want us all to concentrate soley on the Game Day experience once your in the stadium or just outside. Let's get together some ideas and I will present the ideas to the Titans. We are all aware that the experience is pretty poor at the minute but let's see if we can get our heads together on this one. Think when you go with your kids, better half or mates what do you think would be a great idea for the club to try? Also think about what other clubs do on game day at their stadiums that you think that we can steal and evolve into a Titans Game day experience? I'll go back through this thread and compile a list.

Some thoughts that I had and they may have been spoken before is play area for kids constructed on the Northern end of the stadium or plenty of age appropriate jumping castles as some at the moment are not.

Also leveraging off the Theme Parks and getting the Cartoon Characters to the game maybe to hand out passes or at half time have a competition for the kids to find the characters in the stadium somewhere to win prizes. Just ideas.

Maybe ways we can connect with Gen Y as well.

Try and think of some ways that the Titans can reconnect with the community.

I thought I'll submit it to the Titans at the end of August so they look to start looking ASAP for 2015.

I sent them an email today, suggesting that a lucky punter gets to jelly wrestle with two of the cheerleaders at half time, the sponsor's signage would adorn the jelly pool. Haven't heard anything back from the club yet, but I'm waiting by the phone. The lycra's ready to go as well. Just need to ensure they keep me under the salary cap this time.
