The Titans' 3 biggest games of 2014

After pipping the Titans to a finals berth last season, the Cowboys will be target No.1 for the Gold Coast next year.

Titans v Cowboys

The Cowboys are one of just five clubs against whom the Titans enjoy a winning record – albeit a narrow 7-6 advantage. For several years a clash between these clubs would have represented a chance to earn bragging rights as Queensland's second best club – now it could be argued it is a legitimate playoff for Queensland club dominance.

They shared the spoils last year, with each side triumphing at home. Cowboys fans will be hoping their two North Queensland acquisitions – assistant coach and former Cowboys head Neil Henry, as well as winger Kalifa Faifai Loa – will aid their quest for supremacy over their northern rivals.

Titans v Broncos

Speaking of winning records, the Broncos have been the Titans' nemesis since their entry to the competition in 2007. Gold Coast have won just four of those 15 meetings, and their 26 per cent success rate is their worst against any club.

But the times they are a-changing. The Broncos are a side in transition and the Titans finished above them in 2013, despite Brisbane winning both meetings during the season. Titans fans will be more than a little eager to see their boys stick the knife in and start correcting their woeful record against their neighbours when these clubs clash in 2014.

Titans v Roosters

Believe it or not the tricolours are the Titans' favourite opponent historically, having won seven of 11 meetings for a 63 per cent win rate (only the hapless Eels, with seven losses from 10 Titans meetings at 70 per cent, fare worse).

The Titans won their only meeting with the eventual premiers last year, in Round 25. A win against the defending champions is always a sweet addition to any season but especially so for Test forward Nate Myles against his former club, and for Origin forward Greg Bird against several of his sky blue teammates.

Check back on NRL.com on Wednesday for details of your team's schedule with the release of the 2014 NRL Draw.

Had a look at the other 7 clubs that have their 3 biggest games mentioned on the NRL website...none have the Titans as one of their BIG 3 games!

Could be destined to have a litany of Sunday games once again!

The three big games:

1. Breaking away from 5 hit ups and a pop-gun kick.
2. Avoiding making preposterous statements about team expectations.
3. Establishing a functional board for the club.

Out of the entire NRL and according to the NRL website only the Cowboys has ranked a match against the Titans in the Top 3.

Ouch!

That is why we should have devoted so much more time to building rivalries.

Seems like something the NRL will be able to help out with now there's a bit more $$$ available for marketing

Surely, the idea of rivalry begins with being competitive both in ideology and on the field.
