TITANS custodian William Zillman believes his team's true character will be exposed over the next month as they battle for a place in the NRL finals.

Zillman, who will be named today to return from a month off with a groin injury, is adamant the Gold Coast have the team to make the playoffs.

With six games remaining, the Titans still hold their finals destiny in their own hands but are fast running out of time to turn around confidence.

And while regaining that belief would not be easy, Zillman said it was the key to the Titans' season.

''You never like to get to the predicament where you're worrying about other results (to make the finals),'' he said.

''For us, it's gotten to the time where we just need to concentrate on ourselves, realise that there's only six weeks left and give everything to those six weeks.

''I know that we've got the team to be there at the end of the year.''

Zillman conceded the Titans' confidence had evaporated during their four-loss run over the past month but said the team needed to find some way to turn things around.

''It's hard to breed confidence. Obviously when you're winning, it's easy,'' he said.

''When you're losing, it's really hard. And it shows the true character of a team that can stay confident and turn up week in, week out even when results aren't going their way.''

The return of Zillman at the back is likely to add immediate confidence to the Titans for their crucial clash against the Wests Tigers on Sunday.

He is still ranked third in the competition for line breaks despite having sat out the past three games with osteitis pubis.

Zillman revealed he had been battling the chronic inflammation of the joint between the bones at the front of the pelvis for most of the season.

He will face a fitness test later in the week but is expected to play.

Matt Srama and Luke Bailey will have scans on their injured ankles this morning, with only Bailey rated a chance of playing.

Albert Kelly is in doubt with a shoulder injury.
