Figured we could use something like this to create the opportunity for general chat.

So go ahead, share anything. Let's keep this forum alive in the off season :)

LOL i thought this was a thread to get an update on the tweets from each individual Titans player on twitter. A lot of them do constantly tweet. It would be nice to keep us posted on what they are tweeting about.

Wow, Just WOW!

Highly commendable what you're doing there, compiling the history of the Diehards, Mate. It's disappointing to read the disclaimer at the very bottom of the page. But no doubt you'll do the best you can. So far it's a great little read. Looking forward to popping back from time to time to see it progress. :)

Thanks so much Toads. It's people like yourself that we do it for. We cant go forward into the future without having a great idea of the past. It didnt just start in 1988. It was 1908 and even further back we had shared rugby history.

I also have countless BRL games, Finals an Grand Finals on video. Test Matchs and Tour games that will blow your mind. Even Crushers and Chargers material.

I also have every Brisbane Courier and Daily Mail sports article about every BRL Final and Grand Final since 1909.

I own BrisbaneRugbyLeague.com and while nothing is there yet, Id like to make it a one stop shop for everyones projects that enhances the history and heritage.

It is very very sad how things ended. If Queensland had poker machines earlier the Diehards would be an NRL powerhouse. But all BRL history has been shunted too.

But you cant focus on the negative and its nearly an entirely pleasurable journey going through all this stuff.

Hey Brad...........We may have to catch up sometime...I have some 1978 Rugby League Weeks that although are NSW based cover Brisbane footy. I used to have a very big collection of these magazines over the years (Newspaper size) but I sold a lot to a South Sydney nutter some years ago....(I had no hindsight...sorry)

Does a full page colour spread of the 1980 winning 'Avco' Diehards Presidents Cup winning team entice you at all?

Your website was a great read DH. Even though I was a Panther my two best mates were Mick Norris and Russell Hughes. Also Gerry Fitzpatrick whom I noticed was a contributer used to have a run with our scratch Friday arternoon off-season mob out at UQ, back in the day.

And HS, those UQ days also included John Grant (ARLC) and the great Wests prop the late Max Williamson. In reply to your question, graduated in 1976 BBus (UQ), MEd (UCL), FCoT (London) amongst some other stuff.

Wow small world! That is another reason why I love the project. Working on the VFC side of things will also flesh out the history of other sides. I also own BrisbaneRugbyLeague.com and would like to put material on there for everyone, from all teams.

Anyone here played rugby league live 2 yet? I purchased it the day after it came out, pretty fun game!

Doing career mode with the Titans and Idris is actually a beast when utilized. He and Gordon were both in peak form so got selected for NSW origin, along with Bird of course. Prince, Harro and Nate Myles all made QLD... it's kind of cool how the game selects players for rep games based on their form in the game instead of how the teams are irl. Sezer was playing well so managed to get Kangaroos selection..haha.

Anyone here on PSN?

Ah my entire lifespan of 25 years so far. But I'm looking forward to move over, Netherlands bugs me in so many ways!

Is marijuana pretty common there?

Chaserz
02-11-12, 05:13 PM
Well I grew up in the suburbs, where it isn't that much in common. It plays a more prominent feature in the "bigger" cities. The Dutch drug policy is actually quite loose - the law says it is illegal to deal and possess softdrugs, but it doesn't say anything about using it - which "legitimizes" coffeeshops being existent. Hard drugs is illegal by definition, and so it is banned.

Currently, the Dutch parliament is voting against the "discrimination" against foreigners wanting to use softdrugs at the coffeeshops, by enacting a rule coffeeshop owners are required to ask a Dutch Passport/ID, to diminish the amount of drug tourists along the border (especially along the Belgian border in the south). The so-called "Marijuana/Weed Pass" system, enacted few months ago in the southern provinces will probably be abolished, as this featured a similar way (Only Dutch users could require such pass, the essence is the same), now we get a new government installed next Monday. The bigger cities hate the system anyway, since it flocks tourists.

Coffeeshops are widespread in the bigger cities such as Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht. Law states coffeeshops may not be opened within a 500m radius of a school (as a kid noticed that, stating that "sir, we need to close some schools!"). Myself, I don't really like it - especially when someone is smoking it on a railway station and the wind scatters the smell throughout the entire station. And yes ,I often find some mini-bags with a weed logo on the streets, indicating someone used marijuana ;).

Tourists on bikes in Amsterdam are already a problem -- you should take care upon crossing the street, some of them are incapable of steering/using a bicycle in the first place ;) - Stoned or not stoned. It wouldn't be my first time I almost got run over by one. Helmets are not obliged in here by the way.

I believe two years ago an Australian guy died in Amsterdam as he jumped out of a window on the 2nd or 3rd floor when he smoked way too much marijuana and ate too much magic mushrooms as he was hallucinating too much (which kinda spurred the debates on whether drugs should be illegal etc.). I feel sorry for the person he jumped on - he/she died as well...

Depending on what you're after. A lot of the larger clothing range (3xl up) disappears off the shelves pretty quickly. That's pretty well the case each year at all the outlets I purchase gear from.

There's also a rumour circulating around that the Adidas clothing range has been selling well, to the point stock is getting low, and it's not known when Adidas will get around to doing another production run.

So just to be on the safe side. You might want to contact the Ladies at the Titan's Store before coming over, to avoid disappointment upon arrival. :)

Wow thats amazing! I want to know what you thought.

Looked like a great crowd and well done to the NZ Warriors for that awesome Wellington jersey they wore.

I loved it man. Completely different to watching a union game..not quite as boring hahaha. Was freezing though mate, had 5 layers on and couldn't move haha I don't handle the cold here fantastically.

Yeah crowd was 30k. A lot of people had purchased those jerseys actually, which was a good sign. People really showed a lot of interest in the event, hope it becomes regular

No mate....I have a red disabled sticker and that doesn't get me in. Blue (wheelchair access) sticker only. As you have a 'temp' injury i doubt that would be good enough either. In saying that ring the stadium... No harm in asking......07 5656 5500

Mate, I'm very old school and couldn't agree more, I am pitiful. Trying to get me away from Windows is a bit like asking me to cheer for Valleys :) what I really dislike about my macbook is that unless you have an iphone, itunes and every other i-something then you are sort of stuffed and the workarounds too unwieldy for an old dog like me. Totally ar$ed it ... can't fault our effort in defence but our execution is only passable and our attack is woeful ... worse than at any other time and we only seem to come to life in the last ten minutes ... all the old errors are still there with structure and ball-handling ... the halves seem to be a large part of that or their lack of confidence to overcall the big-name forwards.

Hooray, I finally got my car drivers license! In the Netherlands, you are eligible to take up lessons when you are 18, which I did so in 2005. Yet, after a failed test in 2006, I stopped, since I went to Uni, and never had enough money. I decided to break the hiatus, and pick it up again last October, although I had to find a new instructor in a new city (since I have moved from the suburbs in the south of the country to Amsterdam City) with completely new settings and new rules and regulations. Hence, after 9 years, I finally got my license! Hooray, crazy **** cost me 2000 EUR (taking up lessons are extremely expensive in here, bah!), so I can finally stock up cash again :)!

Heh, I'm not sure, but how is traffic like in HK? Busy? Crowded?

Most people don't have cars. Its probably not as bad as you think. But they do drive like rally car drivers. And even though its the law, they never stop for pedestrians at cross walks. Haven't many people run a red light so its a weird situation where manly seem to speed and jam on the breaks but seem to obey the rules otherwise. Traffic is pretty bad at peak times.
