Gold Coast Titans are 1-3 in their last four games, and are coming off a 78-0 loss to the Panthers in Round 25.
They sit 16th on the competition ladder, 16 points out of the Top 8.
Manly Sea Eagles are 2-2 in their last four games, and are coming off a 29-22 loss to the Broncos in Round 25.
They sit 14th on the competition ladder, 14 points out of the Top 8.

Round 7, 2012 - The Titans won 28-24 at Brookvale Oval earlier this season.

The 2012 season has been a tough one for this weekend’s combatants but the Gold Coast Titans and Manly Sea Eagles do have a Wooden Spoon to avoid on Saturday in Round 26 of the NYC.
The Titans are currently in 16th spot, two points behind the Sea Eagles but their points differential is close enough (Manly are -328 and the Gold Coast are -352) that if the Titans win by 13 or more they could relegate the Sea Eagles into last spot, or 15th if the Parramatta Eels (currently 15th) win their match with the St George Illawarra Dragons.
Forgetting last weekend’s loss to the Panthers is vital for the young Titans, who are capable of rebounding with a win against the Sea Eagles and giving the Gold Coast fans a final positive to take out of their NYC season.
Jamal Forgarty and Hymel Hunt are in a two way battle to finish as the top tryb scorer with 9 tries each, while Dylan Hartin should hold off Sam Irwin for the top tackler award - Hartin has 736 tackles to Irwin’s 680.
It is also interesting to note that the ‘Captain’s Challenge’ will be trialled in this game, with each team allocated one challenge per half.

A 'captain's challenge' will be trialled in a Toyota Cup clash on Saturday in what could be a pre-cursor to the system being used in the NRL.

The match between Gold Coast and Manly - who are out of finals contention running last and 14th on the ladder respectively - will be used as the guinea pig in the latest attempt to cut down on refereeing errors.

Each team will nominate two players before the match who have the authority to challenge a refereeing decision - though they will be limited to specific calls they are allowed to question.

These include mandatory penalties for offside rulings, whether a ball has been knocked-on or stripped and any try-scoring situations not sent to the video referee for review by the on-field official.

Teams will not be permitted to challenge judgment calls relating to forward passes or discretionary penalties involving the 10 metres and flops at the play-the-ball.

"It is something that has been used overseas and which has been discussed as an option in our game for many years," ARLC general manager of football operations Nathan McGuirk said in a statement.

"The idea of the trial is to test how such a system could work in our game and identify any future options."

The challenge system has been used to good effect in the National Football League in the US, where coaches are permitted to challenge from the sideline by throwing a flag on the field.

ARL Commissioner Wayne Pearce, former Test captain Darren Lockyer and several past and present NRL coaches including Brian Smith and Daniel Anderson were consulted in setting up the trial.

Referees' coach Stuart Raper hoped the model being trialed would have minimal impact on the flow of the game.

"It is important to try new ideas and I think that this is a real opportunity to trial something that has been debated around rugby league for a number of years," Raper said.

Nominated players will indicate to the referee that they intend to challenge the refereeing decision, with play stopped for the ruling to be reviewed.

Each team is permitted one unsuccessful challenge per half, with the challenge retained if the original decision is overturned.

If replays prove inconclusive, the match will restart under the initial ruling.

I would hope it would be a different team out there this afternoon. Manly are almost as bad as our guys in the 20's. If we win and Parra lose they get to keep the spoon in both grades....if Parra win and we win by 13+ then Manly get it.

Titans Under-20s end with loss to Manly

The Jetstar Gold Titans NYC side has ended a tough season with a 46-10 loss to the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles at Skilled Park this afternoon.

Needing a win to avoid the wooden-spoon, the Titans were dominated by a relentless Manly outfit who put on an eight-try-to-two performance to relegate the Titans to the bottom of the competition ladder.

Despite the tough season - which netted only five wins for the year - a majority of the Titans under 20?s players will still be eligible to play Under-20s next year and hopefully with a year under their belt will be able to be a competitive outfit.

The Titans felt the pressure early on after Manly shot-out to an 18-nil lead inside the first 15 minutes thanks to tries to prop Justin Lemaly, fullback Clint Gutherson, and winger Theo Leato.

With the Titans struggling to get out of their own half, Manly continued their attacking dominance scoring tries through forward Kayse Greer and when Gutherson grabbed his second Manly took a 28-nil lead.

With just two minutes remaining of the half, referee Henry Perenara ruled a Manly knock-on, before Manly captain Drinkwater called for the first-ever ?captain?s call? challenge.

In a historic moment for the game trialling the ?captain?s call? for the first ?time this game, the decision went up to the video-referee who ruled with the Manly side to overturn the call and give their away-side the loose-headed feed.

But the Titans managed to hold-off the last-minute Manly onslaught to go into the half-time break trailing 28-0.

Manly started off their second-half in similar fashion to the first, scoring through utility Stevie Tavita, and with Drinkwater converting they took a 34-0 lead.

The Titans posted their first points in the 56th minute when a beautiful Kane Elgey cut-out pass found winger Jarad Teo to score out-wide, but with Jamal Fogarty?s conversion sailing wide they trailed 34-4.

But Manly put an end to any Titans comeback hopes when winger Leato crossed for his second, and pivot Will Pearsall scoring to give Manly an unattainable 44-4 lead. With under ten minutes remaining.

But the Titans finished their season of a high note with lock-forward Dylan Hartin scoring in front of the Titan Legion in the final minute of the half, with the conversion successful the Titans reeled the full-time score back to 46-10.
