Who is fired up? Who will be watching?

I love the Olympics and I am really looking forward to it. Maybe more than Beijing where everything was so controlled.

Gruen Sweat: July 25

Gruen Sweat makes its premiere tonight as Wil Anderson, Todd Sampson and Russel Howcroft commentate on the ‘brandtathlon’ better known as London 2012.

They will be joined by Jane Flemming, now a sponsorship and marketing specialist and Steve Moneghetti, who now makes his living advising athletes and sports organisations.

In tonight’s episode the GRUEN team examine:

? IOC – does it stand for “Iron-fisted Omnipresent Control”? The team examines the crazy lengths taken to protect official sponsors in London during the Games. Freeze – It’s the Brand Police!

? Olympic PR 101 – Aussie athletes and social media stuff ups. Are their responses worse than the original mistakes?

? Our Aussie athletes – what to do if the “naughty kids” win Gold for Australia?

? Personal Worst – each week the Gruen team will showcase the WORST performances by athletes in TV commercials. Front runner for tonight? Canadian drug cheat, sprinter Ben Johnson, and his energy drink ad. It’s BAD!

? THE PITCH – Shani Langy (Play Communication) vs Andrew Turley (Convert)
The challenge: A campaign to convince Australians that a 100% tolerance, all-drugs-are-okay, performance-enhanced Olympics is the only way forward.

Can't wait! Gonna wake up at 5:30 to catch the opening ceremony. Of course many people say that you can just wait and watch the highlights but this is a spectacle that's got to be enjoyed live.

Ah great a fellow fan. I'd like to share it with Titans fans. Im sure there will be ALOT to talk about going through the Olympics.

I think the British will go well, unfortunately probably well in sailing and cycling which will cut our grass.

But I wonder what has happened to the Olympic budgets of nations hit bad by the GFC.

Doesn't look like it will change in a hurry & we may be heading towards our worst medal tally in many many years :surprise:

Zero individual Gold medals in the pool :?)

On the plus side we are looking pretty good with our Silver tally :p

Very disappointing so far. I read that this Olympics they've banned the use of sleeping pills and many of our 'guaranteed golds' athletes are having sleepless nights as the pressure builds. Maybe a large part of it is because of this?

Thank god we are ahead of New Zeland now thanks to Gold medals from Anna Mears and Sally Pearson! Who would have thought we would be hearing our anthem so rarely. Makes you value them all the more.

Sad to see Diamond bomb out in shooting after such an amazing round. The burden of favouritism must be crushing.

It was a great Olympics, but not for Australia.

So much drama and amazing moments.

I really enjoyed it and can't believe another Olympics has been and gone.

I just returned from London (so that explains my absence), it was a friggin' brilliant and amazing experience to see over 200.000 people cluttered in different venues. I was mostly watching gymnastics with my sister, since we have a rich history in this sport, but also made it to the Olympic Stadium. Or, well, actually from a 500m distance, since you were not allowed to get close to the stadium if you didn't have a ticket. So in the Stratford Mall just outside the stadium, was just packed with people.

It was fun to be in the crowds when Brazil-Mexico played their final match, and it was also fun how the Brits were cheering for their contenders, even when the athlete had no chance of reaching a final :p. The Dutch may take an example of such spirited people :). As for the medal tally, the Netherlands was quite disappointed with their 13th rank, as they did much better at the 2000 Sydney Games, but I think they shouldn't complain with a total of 20 medals, from which 6 golds (including an Artistic Gymnastics medal, which was never obtained in the modern era -- Dutch public opinion voted that as the most beautiful medal won).

I will definitely go to Rio 2016 :).
