Must win match for us. We need to get into the top 8.

Btw guys join in the NRL Auction draft. We need 3 more players to play. You can bid for players against other people and start to build a team. Its going to be lots of fun. You can bid for Thurston, Cronk, Sezer and many more players!

Confirm your name in this thread to start playing.

We should get a good look at the Panthers tonight against the Warriors. They have been in reasonable form of late so will be interesting to see if we can get the money here. I don't think we will get a walk up victory and will need to earn the W. Is Prince in doubt again? There is no point putting Zillman into the halves. I'd like to see either Rankin or Falloon given a crack. If we went with Falloon then I think Srama would he our best bet to lead the team from halfback. I hope James gets another crack. His output was pretty good in the time he was on. We need him to get more ball on the charge.

In saying that I thought Matt White was one of our best against the Sharks. Games like this are good for our fringe players to start stepping up and taking more responsibility.

Srama is just a hooker in my opinion as is Falloon.

Supergoose
11-06-12, 02:15 PM
I have to disagree. Srama played, lot of junior footy in the halves. He has good vision and provides leadership that we sorely missed from our halves last start. I think we would have had far greater control with a spine of Fallon, Srama, Sezer and Zillman than with any other configuration minus Prince.

Julius Sezer
11-06-12, 02:36 PM
Srama is similar to Farah. They could both play in the halves if they wanted to. Srama would be good at halfback in my opinion. And Falloon would cover as hooker.

Id prefer
1. Zillman
6. Sezer
7. Srama
9. Falloon

What about?

1. Zillman (Cartwright must select him ... 5 years, club captain and all)
6. Sezer (never, ever to be rotated)
7. Henry (if Prince is injured and he won't pick Rankin then why not a specialist)
8. Srama (it ain't broke)

Anyone know what the Titans to make the eight is paying at the moment? I think this should be a decent win and set the tone for the rest of the season.

Even yesterday isn't a massive disappointment given the outs.

Supergoose
11-06-12, 04:32 PM
With control and leadership yesterday we win that game. Penrith have shown heart and spirit at times this season and if we are not right on top of our game they will get us. They have had key players out and have still been pretty good most weeks. In saying all this, I expect that we should rattle up a decent score and improve our for and against. A lot will depend on how the origin players for both sides back-up. Grant would be at long odds to play S00 and back-up.

I don't like the idea of Srama being used as a 7. He's a young bloke developing and still learning his position. Let him develop and not mess him around like Zillman. Leave people in their positions and let them become good specialists. Rankin should have played half back on Sunday if he was fit or whoever is the next half back prospect. Do we have one? Falloon?

i think falloon should have played at 6 and sezer move to 7.

srama is gonna be a gun, lets just let him be a gun, not try and spread his talents over 2 positions and confuse him, we can see whats its doing to zillman to keep moving back and forth.

that being said, sramas headgear could play 58th before zillman could,

The Jetstar Gold Coast Titans have named Captain Scott Prince and State of Origin trio Nate Myles, Ashley Harrison and Greg Bird to return for Sunday’s Round 15 clash with Penrith at Skilled Park.

The inclusion of the experienced quartet will see the Jetstar Titans return to near full-strength against the Panthers, with prop Luke Bailey the club’s only major omission as he continues his recovery from a rib injury.

Prince was a late withdrawal from last Sunday’s 22-12 loss to Cronulla after suffering tightness in his lower back at the side’s final training session on Saturday but is expected to be fit to take on the Panthers.

The club is hoping the Origin trio will be fit to back-up after Wednesday night’s Origin 2 in Sydney, with three days recovery in the build-up to the Panthers clash.

Our three game winning streak led people to mistakenly believe that Cartwright was going OK as coach. Sunday should prove beyond any reasonable doubt that he is a complete DUD!!

Halfback was weakened by Prince being injured and then fullback was weakened by moving Zillman away from his best position. This is not a criticism of Dowling who I thought was very good, it is just a simple statement of fact that Zillman is better than him at this time. Two positional changes made to cover one injury - that is bad planning, bad coaching, bad management - call it what you like!!

Every win we get is a bonus this year, playing under a clueless coach kept in the job by an inept administration.

Our season in on the line this weekend - we simply MUST win at home against a team that will not make the 8.

Etu: 'We must shut down Scott Prince'

WITH the injection of some State of Origin blood into the line-up, Panthers winger Etu Uaisele (pictured) believes the side will be fit to trounce the Gold Coast Titans and increase the distance between themselves and the bottom of the ladder.

After losing to the New Zealand Warriors on Monday night, and with the last-placed Parramatta Eels picking up a win and a bye in the last two weeks, just two points separate the Panthers from joining their arch-rivals at the southern most point of the competition.

But when they travel north to take on the Titans at Skilled Park on Sunday afternoon, Uaisele was confident they'd also bolster their position on the ladder.

"We're ready to play, do our job and, hopefully, come up with the two points," he said. "I haven't watched much of the Titans but if we can shut down Scott Prince I think we should be right."

Uaisele said the welcome return of their Origin stars would provide a massive boost after their absence led to a mediocre display in horrendous wet conditions against the Warriors.

"They were a big loss for us but with them coming back it should be a strong game again," he said. "It was tough against New Zealand, especially under the high balls ? the ball was going everywhere ? but the boys stuck in there."

As one of the team's resident fleet-footed wingers, Uaisele said his first priority when battling the Titans would be to perfect his own duties.

"I've just got to keep turning up and being consistent. I've got my own job and that's all I need to focus on," he said.

But he admits his job is made easier when working alongside close mate Michael Jennings and the 27-year-old said he was looking forward to joining him on the field again. "I love playing with him so it'll be good to see him back," he said.

"He helps me heaps, just giving the confidence ? having someone like him beside you, you don't really have to do much, he does the job for you. I reckon he can't wait to get back in there and he'll kill it when he comes back."

Meanwhile, Panthers' regular fullback Lachlan Coote has been dropped to NSW Cup side the Windsor Wolves for this weekend's round, with winger Josh Mansour set to adopt the No.1 jumper and Sandor Earl filling the void left by Mansour on the wing.

Titans v Panthers preview

Gold Coast Titans v Penrith Panthers
Skilled Park
Sunday 2pm

A promising run of good form for the Gold Coast came to a sudden end last Sunday when they fell to an under-manned Cronulla outfit, but they will be confident of quickly putting that performance behind them when they host strugglers Penrith at Skilled Park.

The Titans have been a tough side to pick so far in 2012 ? last year?s wooden-spooners again struggling to live up to their potential before suddenly hitting their straps with three consecutive wins to rekindle their finals hopes.

However, if they are serious about their season ticking over into late September then they must take care of the Panthers this weekend.

That will certainly be the expectation of coach John Cartwright who welcomed a number of big-name signings ? namely Jamal Idris, Nate Myles and Beau Champion ? to the club at the start of the year and knows he has a squad that should be troubling the big guns.

Still, the return of their entire back row of Myles, Greg Bird and Ashley Harrison from State of Origin duty is significant and with veteran halfback Scott Prince impressing of late (they certainly missed his presence against the Sharks), another run of victories isn?t beyond them.

Penrith, on the other hand, simply need to salvage something from their rapidly crumbling season.

New coach Ivan Cleary didn?t promise the world when he arrived during the off-season but after a promising start the Panthers have offered little since. Like the Titans, they will welcome back key players from Origin duty this week in Luke Lewis, Tim Grant and Michael Jennings and the hope will be that they make headlines for their efforts on the field rather than off it: despite representing the Blues, Jennings hasn?t taken his place in the Penrith squad since he was dumped to NSW Cup a month ago while Lewis is known to be unhappy with Cleary?s decision to strip him of the captaincy for the duration of the rep season.

Can Penrith turn their own season around? The signs were certainly good when they upset premiers Manly three weeks ago but an untimely bye and a woeful second-half performance against the Warriors on Monday night has quickly ended any momentum they were building. They need to arrest the slide ASAP.

Cleary has made his presence felt again this week, dropping fullback Lachlan Coote, with Josh Mansour moving to fullback. Jennings returns at the expense of Geoff Daniela.
The Titans will be bolstered by the return of their Origin back-rowers while captain Scott Prince has also been named after withdrawing just hours before last week?s loss to Cronulla with back soreness.

Jamal Idris will no doubt be looking for another big performance after running for more than 100 metres last week for the first time since Round 2. He has fared well against Penrith in the past, with three tries from four games and an average five tackle-breaks.

His team-mate Mark Minichiello (209 games) requires just 37 more metres to reach 20,000 for his career.

Watch Out Titans: Penrith five-eighth Travis Burns has been at the heart of most of their successful attacking raids this season and again looms as the man most likely to dismantle the Gold Coast defence. Burns has produced a team-high six try assists and eight line-break assists, as well as making five line-breaks, scoring five tries and adding 30 tackle-breaks.

Danger Sign: Errors have been the Titans? Achilles heel this season. Their 169 errors so far in 2012 is the most by any side in the Telstra Premiership and an area they will need to address over the back half of the season. A total of eight Titans players have made 10 errors or more this season, with William Zillman?s 13 the most by any player.

Watch Out Panthers: Penrith must defend their edges strongly because the Titans heavily favour scoring out wide. In 2012, they have scored 23 tries out wide and just six in the middle of the field. Notably, the Panthers have struggled to defend in those very same areas, with 21 tries conceded on their left and 16 on their right.

Danger Sign: The Panthers have struggled all year to turn field position into points, having crossed just 16 times when attacking inside the opposition 10-metre line. Only Canterbury have scored fewer from close range, although the Bulldogs happen to be the kings of the long distance try with 27 scored from further than 20 metres out. Penrith, meanwhile, have scored just 38 tries all season.

Nate Myles v Tim Grant: These two workaholic front-rowers renew their Origin rivalry just days after turning out for Queensland (where Myles packed down in the second row) and NSW respectively. Key members of their sides? forward packs, Myles has averaged 112 metres and 25 tackles for the Titans in 2012 while Grant has averaged 146 metres up front for Penrith.

Where It Will Be Won: In the halves. Creativity has been a problem for both the Titans and Panthers this season, with the Gold Coast scoring just 35 tries (better only than St George Illawarra) and Penrith 38. Whichever side starts to find some rhythm in their attack this Sunday will go a long way towards taking the two competition points.

The History: Played 5; Panthers 3, Titans 2. Penrith hold a 2-1 advantage at Skilled Park. Other than a 24-22 win to the Gold Coast in their first ever meeting in 2008, these two rarely play a close game ? three of their five matches have been decided by exactly 14 points.

The Last Time They Met: Penrith scored an emphatic 23-10 victory at this very same venue in Round 13 last year thanks largely to a glut of second-half errors from the home side.

The Titans actually began the better of the two sides with David Mead leaping highest to score from a Scott Prince bomb after just five minutes and despite falling behind through tries to Michael Jennings and Kevin Kingston in the 14th and 24th minutes, scores were level just moments after the half-time break thanks to some Preston Campbell magic.

Campbell grubbered in behind the defensive line and then toed the ball ahead again, the diminutive playmaker winning the race to touch down centimetres inside the dead-ball line.
Unfortunately, the Titans? joy was short lived.

Fumbling their way to a 50 per cent second-half completion rate, the Gold Coast?s resolve was broken after 54 minutes when Petero Civoniceva burst through to send Adrian Purtell away. Luke Walsh made it a seven-point game when he calmly slotted a 72nd-minute field-goal. And Penrith put the icing on the cake when Luke Walsh chipped over the top and Travis Burns gathered in the scraps to make it 23-10.
The Titans completed just 26 of 41 sets for the game and missed 40 tackles to 24.

Winger David Simmons ran for 185 metres and made five tackle-breaks for the visitors while Gold Coast forward Ashley Harrison worked hard in making 47 tackles.

Match Officials: Referees ? Gerard Sutton & Phil Haines; Sideline Officials ? David Abood & Grant Atkins; Video Referee ? Rod Lawrence.

The Way We See It: Ivan Cleary?s attempts to instill discipline and stamp his mark on the club have failed to produce results so far. This week it is fullback Lachlan Coote to feel Cleary?s wrath following his disastrous performance in the rain against the Warriors last week. The good news is that star centre Michael Jennings is back ? but will it be enough? The Gold Coast were missing arguably their four most important players in last week?s loss to Cronulla and have been in pretty decent form for more than a month now so we can?t go past them to keep their finals hopes alive this week with a solid win. Titans by eight points. :fist:

Zillman's stats certainly highlight the stupidity of putting him in the halves last game ... put the NRL's most error-ridden player in the team's most critical position = genius.

I realise that leaving Bailey out of that article was probably an oversight but I have a suspicion that the side goes better without him over-calling the ball from the likes of White, Douglas and Myles. Any comments?

Saw a suggestion on twitter that Arana Taumata might get a run in first grade. Travis burns may be in doubt with his cheek injury. Titans sweat on Harrison, Idris

THE Gold Coast Titans could be without star duo Jamal Idris and Ashley Harrison in Sunday's Skilled Park showdown against Penrith with injuries putting the pair in doubt for the crunch clash.

Idris rolled his ankle at training yesterday and will have scans today to assess the damage. It is not believed to be serious but the centre is in doubt to face the Panthers.

Workhorse lock Harrison will also see a doctor today to have a badly bruised eye examined. Harrison copped a knock in Queensland's 16-12 Origin loss to NSW on Wednesday night.

He also has a minor tear in his groin but a cortisone injection last week has helped alleviate the pain and discomfort of that and it is just his eye that could see him sit out the match. Origin stars Nate Myles and Greg Bird are expected to play.

If Harrison was to be ruled out, Luke O'Dwyer could shift to lock or coach John Cartwright may opt to send prop Luke Douglas to the back row after he starred there last week with 60 tackles.

Steve Michaels is a likely replacement for Idris while Dominique Peyroux returned from injury for Tweed Heads last weekend.

The Titans have enough depth in the centres to cover for Idris but the second-row is a cause for concern with Harrison an integral part of the rotation.

Harrison, who made his 14th Origin appearance, said his groin had responded well to treatment.

"The groin's OK. It's just going to be an ongoing thing for the rest of the year. I've got a little tear there," he said.

"It didn't really trouble me to be honest with you. I think the cortisone shot really helped it.

"As long as that keeps working I should be fine."

While Harrison's eye is his major concern heading into the weekend, he admitted his groin would need to be carefully managed throughout the season.

"It'll just be a week to week thing," he said.

If Harrison and Idris are to miss the Panthers match, it would be a massive blow for the Titans, who are already without prop Luke Bailey (ribs).

Penrith also have victorious Blues Michael Jennings, Luke Lewis and Tim Grant, who will be brimming with confidence after NSW's gutsy Game Two win.

The Blues outplayed Queensland for much of the match and came away deserved victors, but Harrison said the Maroons had a lot of improvement in them.

"I'm a little bit disappointed with our execution. We didn't give ourselves much chance with the footy," he said after Queensland made 12 errors compared with their opponents' six."

The Titans will have their final training session tomorrow where a final 17 will be selected.

Mansour has been their best player or near best player since he debuted 5/6 weeks ago. Taumata will be deadly if he plays halfback and Siejka can attack but his defence may be able to be exploited. They need McKendry, their prop depth is poor and they got belted up the middle without Grant last week. Will be a New look side and difficult to play against if all this is true.

The fast track thing is a pertinent point. The Panthers played on Monday night in diabolical conditions and have been training on heavy tracks too. We might just have another edge we can count on, fresher legs even though we too played on a heavy track last start. Ifnwe don't win and win well we can almost certainly kiss top 8 goodbye. There are some teams in and around us that we must beat over the next few weeks for us to contend for the top 8. If we are to make the top 8, who are the teams that we need to see start losing regularly? I think the Warriros chances got dented majorly tonight, like ours did last week.

Titans unveil entertainment extravaganza for Panthers clash

The Jetstar Gold Coast Titans today showcased an entertainment extravaganza that will wow fans with aerial motocross displays and dance moves fresh from the United States when they take on the Panthers at Skilled Park on Sunday.

As part of the game day activity, fans of all ages will be wowed by the displays of the performing ?Freestyle Moto X? show ?Showtime FMX? as well as the famous dance crew ?Jabbawockeez?, direct from Las Vegas.

The sideshows are all a part of the Family Fun Day including jumping castles, Titans obstacle courses, face painters, fairy floss, performances from our Titanettes, Game Day Titans TV action and of course the main stage ? two Rugby League clashes.

The Gold Coast Titans wanted to create an environment that was value packed for the whole family by offering a special ?$50 Family? ticket and providing an entertainment packed afternoon at the footy.

Titans prop Luke Bailey sees this Sunday as a great initiative to get the crowds back to Skilled Park.

?The crowd know how important they are and every game is tight this year,?? said Bailey.

?We love to fill the stadiums and what better to do on a Sunday then watch the footy, watch us win and you have the entertainment here with the ?Jabbawockeez?, Showtime FMX plus on top of all that there are treats for the kids, so it should make for a great day.??

Titans duo Bailey and Bodene Thompson were able to experience a front seat view of the entertainment, perched on top of the landing ramp with the stunt bike sailing over their heads.

While that would be enough to make many a man go weak at the knees, motocross enthusiast Thompson couldn?t wipe the smile from his face.

?It was pretty exciting actually, I like motocross and having the ?Jabbawockeez? as well it was exciting,?? said Thompson.

The feeling was mutual for Showtime FMX Director Gary Reid who has taken his team of extreme motocross performers to the V8 Supercars and Nitro Circus to name a few.

?Yeah we are really excited about coming to the game this weekend, we have performed all around the Country, we relocated the team to the Gold Coast about a year and a half ago and really keen to get involved with the Titans so hoping for a great family day,?? said Reid.

?I am a closet Canberra Raiders fan but after moving up to the Gold Coast I have converted to the Titans, they have been great to be involved with in piecing this event together.?

?I was lucky enough to see the ?Jabbawockeez? when I was in Las Vegas a while ago so having them dancing on top of the truck today with the boys was unreal so I hope a big crowd will turn up.?

Jupiters Hotel & Casino Acting Managing Director, Craig Peachey, said the property was excited to be joining forces with the Jetstar Gold Coast Titans to create a memorable game day experience for the local community.

?We were thrilled to be able to bring world famous dance crew ?Jabbawockeez? direct from Las Vegas to the Gold Coast as the first stage show in the new $20 million redeveloped Jupiters Theatre,? Mr Peachey said.

?Jupiters is a long-time supporter of the Jetstar Gold Coast Titans and of late, the property has placed a huge emphasis on being the ?home of live entertainment? in our city, so what better way to bring the two together than to involve the ?Jabbawockeez? in a home game.

?We hope the Jetstar Gold Coast Titans fans enjoy the sneak peek of the dance crew?s critically acclaimed stage show, ?Jabbawockeez? presents M?S.I.C, which has been wowing audiences of all ages with its unique mix of theatre and dance.

?Jupiters and the Jabbawockeez are looking forward to teaming up with the Titans on what promises to be a fun, family day at the footy.??

Titans fans will have a chance to get up close and personal with the live entertainment on Sunday and indulge in the entertainment extravaganza that will find the inner child in all of us.

Showtime FMX will kick-off the action with two pre-game shows on Sunday from 12:40 and 1:10pm while the Jabvbawockeez will perform inside the stadium just before kick off.

Tickets are still available for the clash with families benefiting from the $50 Family ticket, for more information head to http://www.titans.com.au/

Happy that we won, but would've loved to have hit 40. Valuable for and against for us. We must now beat the Dragons to put us at the head of the chasing pack. Revoke Zillman's kicking licence before he costs us another game with it (yes I blame him in the main for last week's loss).

Injuries today were a concern. O'Dwyer and Harrison did well filling in at centre and dummy-half. Harrison's service was okay but not like that of a regular hooker. We have to find a way of getting Falloon on our bench, but what would we have done without Chalky today? Centre is a concern again with both of our star recruits in moon boots by the end of the clash.

White and Lawrence were excellent again. Bird tremendous (let's hope his injury is minor), Gordon and Mead looked dangerous with every touch and solid under the high ball, Zillman was heavily involved and good whenever he wasnt kicking. Things are looking good, but will all amount to nothing if we don't put the Dragons to the sword next Friday night.

Such a sad sight to see how far Jennings has slipped in pace

Most of the Panthers don't look like they're enjoying their footy. Jennings looked quicker and more interested on Wednesday night. Cleary is shaking them up and they don't look mentally tough enough to handle it.

Everything seems to be clicking. We are much better then some of the teams ahead of us on the ladder. We have proved that we are better then the Dogs and the Cowboys. Lets take the confidence from those matches and storm into the top 8.

The Raiders loss was the kicker ... that should have been two in the bank.

A few weeks back I thought we might stumble into the eight but would only be making up numbers.

Now I think we might just fall short, but if we do stumble in we'll give at least one team a fell of a fright.

Plus I'm on at $6 to make the eight so c'mon Titans

Pretty happy with how they went today and I'm even prepared to forgive the late tries due to a reduced bench thanks to injury. Fingers crossed for Bird though- I think we really need him and Prince to stay fit.

Bailey might be struggling to get back in the team at this rate :poke:

Great game today from the entire squad & considering the injuries their performance was brilliant , standouts were Sezar & Zillman even though he bombed at least 1 certain try :nope: , also big mentions have to go out to Michaels & Chalky who were both thrown into the game at short notice & had great games , BJ & White showd they deserve their spots in the 17 ;)

i was initially really disapointed with the second half fade and letting them get cheap tries, but it was effing hot today and we lost srama for most, champion for all, and bird for a third at least.

our forwards had to do alot extra, and when you consider harro and myles were backing up as well from origin, the fade out at least was a result of something more than just lack of focus and intent.

im actually bouyed about it now i think about it.

wests losing and a probable manly loss to storm means we will keep within 4 of the top 8 and our slim hopes remain. if we fell to 6 away it was goodnight imo.

again though, id rather us finish strong and with a great enthusiasm to take into the off season.

p.s. weve equalled last years win tally with 11 rounds to go.

Had BJ to score at 11 to 1 so happy days. Good to see him keep his head up after an early error and I know I keep banging on but he looks more comfortable every game. Even just taking that last kick was a good thing.

White- again- fantastic.

Fantastic ... now which of you very good blokes are going to take your iphone take a little grab of the entertainment and upload for all of us challenged by distance? Will Titans TV cover it? Will Diehard yell himself ho****? Will Coaster blow his kahfouffal valve? Will Titan Pete's prediction be doubled? Can Teke score ... metaphorically speaking ... in the corner? Can't wait!

My score prediction was close :D

the kick off return after his try, he looked 10% tougher, meaner and more confident.

he can be a real weapon for us. who would want to tackle that.

with bird out, srama off for ages and champion gone, plus guys backing up...we were fakked smakked. :D

seriously i hate finishing poorly as much as the next guy, but our large score today hid how courageous a performance it really was.

not only the extra work they had to do, but putting 30 on a team with your gun hooker out, and having a backrower play there is pretty special.

White- again- fantastic.I think White is providing as much punch if not more than Bailey has this year. I like the big tank hitting it up.

A win is a win, ST George should be another win aswell but i bit harder i would say. Sorry m missed the game this week work commitments got int the way. These things happen when trying to setup your own buisness.

On form we should flogging the Dragons. No Bird might hurt that though.

The Dragons finished strongly against the Bulldogs so should get confidence out of that. If we can go down there healthy we should get the chocolates without to much drama.

ill have to have a look tonight.

i also have enjoyed looking into other teams forums this year.

from memory, the knights are the reasonable (maybe even dopey?)

the Parra forum is probably blocked by the government for its content. i can imagine they are venting alot these days.
