TWEED HEADS v EASTS TIGERS
Piggabeen Sports Complex Sunday, May 1 ? 3.30pm

Easts Tigers coach Troy McCarthy will return to Piggabeen on Sunday, but this time around he will be in enemy territory. McCarthy was at the helm when the southernmost Queensland Cup side won the competition in 2007. The Tigers will be hoping he has some inside knowledge to help beat the as yet undefeated Tweed Heads side. The Tigers may have only recorded the one win so far, but have gone close a number of times, including a 16-16 draw with Ipswich in round 1. Their task to return from their away trip with the two points has been made all the more difficult with creative halfback Luke Kelly missing from this week?s line-up with a groin injury. Tweed Heads will welcome back electric fullback Shannon Walker from suspension. Hard-working Tweed forward Selasi Berdie will also make his return to the side and it comes at just the right time following the loss of Ryan Simpkins (hamstring). Head-to-head, the Tigers have won nine games while Tweed Heads have won eight.

Tweed Heads edge out Easts in tough battle

Points were much harder to come by at Piggabeen in the clash between Tweed Heads Seagulls and the Easts Tigers.

Tigers coach Troy McCarthy headed to his old club with nothing but a win on his mind and the 2007 premiership-winning Seagulls coach nearly got his wish against the hot favourites.

After trailing 12-0 at half-time, Easts responded with tries to Elijah Niko and Isaac Kaufmann to level proceedings.

But the Tigers' charge was halted by Tweed fullback Shannon Walker, who scored his second with two minutes to go to secure a thrilling 18-12 win.

The match-winning try marked a stunning return by Walker from a four-match suspension.

TWEED HEADS SEAGULLS 18 (Shannon Walker 2, Kayne Lawton tries; Brad Davis 3 goals) def EASTS TIGERS 12 (Elijah Niko, Isaac Kaufmann tries; Matt Minto 2 goals) at Piggabeen Sports.

Looks like Shannon Walker had a stunning return to the Queensland Cup.

Both solo efforts by Shannon, watching the highlights on http://www.qrl.com.au/default.aspx?s=qldcup

First one a length of the field effort, 4 weeks off maybe did him some good. If the Titans don't want him I'm sure there's an NRL team or two that would find a spot for him.
