Rankin's move to fullback probably helped out with the defense.

The Jetstar Gold Coast Titans NYC side has registered its first points on the competition ladder with a heart-stopping 14-all draw with the Wests Tigers at Skilled Park tonight.

Going into the last five minutes levelled up at 14-all the Titans looked to break the dead-lock when fullback Jordan Rankin got the ball in good kicking position on two occasions but he was unable to land the elusive field-goal.

After a poor opening five rounds, the draw could be the turning point for the Titans, who put in a solid 80 minute performance to come away with the one point as they look to climb their way up the competition ladder.

On the back of plenty of possession it was the visitors who opened the scoring in the 14th minute when fullback Matt Evans dummied his way through some tired Titans defence to plant the ball down, with the conversion sailing wide the Tigers lead 4-0.

The Titans hit back in the 21st minute when Sam Martin burrowed his way through the defence to score next to the posts, with Rankin converting the Titans took a slim 6-4 lead.

The Titans extended their lead minutes later when on the end of a brilliant short-ball Joe Mua wrestled his way over the Tigers defence to slam the ball down, with Rankin unable to add the extras the Titans took a 10-4 lead with 15 minutes remaining.

The Tigers responded in the 31st minute when Curtis Sironen sliced his way through the Titans online defence to score untouched under the posts, Sironen then converted his try to level the scores up at 10-all going into the half-time break.

The Titans opened the scoring in the second half in the 57th minute when Matt Srama threw a lovely cut-out pass to winger Sean Carney who sprinted down the touch-line to score under the posts, with Rankin?s conversion sailing wide the Titans took a 14-10 lead.

The Tigers levelled the scores in the 67th minute when some scrappy play resulted in Joel Luani diving on the loose ball and scoring out wide, with the kick sailing wide the game was locked up at 14-all with under 15 minutes remaining.

With the scores still tied going into the dying minutes of the match, the Titans fired off two field goal attempts but with both sailing wide the Titans were forced to settle with the14-all draw.

Gold Coast Titans 14(S Martin, J Mua, S Carney; J Rankin 1 conversion) drew with Wests Tigers 14(M Evans, C Sironen, J Luani; C Sironen 1 conversion)
