Mead has copped a fair bit of flack on here lately, but after seeing the stats on the amount if ball going to the right, I think he deserves the benefit if the doubt.

Pretty hard to create tries without the ball :p

Hopefully the ball starts going his way a bit more because there isn't a more likeable bloke in the team!

I thought Meady had a terrific game tonight...made of meters on the kick-returns for us!

I listened to the game on the radio and they voted him man of the match and said he probably got Dally M points.

They just need to get the ball to him in the backline and the line breaks/tries will flow.

Great to hear he tore up tonight, he deserves it. And hopefully just the confidence boost he needs to kickstart a great season.

He was great last night but he needs to involve himself. I really don't think he's our fullback answer but with a roving commission then he's a real weapon when he wants to be.

Magic Mead was officially asked to the Dally M Awards this week, top 4 players in each position are asked. I think he was the only Titan to be asked.

He was nominated for...
Winger of the Year, and
Try of the Year

Uate will wrap up Winger of the Year but it's a great effort nonetheless.

Mead is a legend. Easily the best player in the titans this year. The shining light you can say in the team throughout this year. The freakish skills he has is amazing and i hope it stays with him throughout his career. Something i noticed in last nights game is that he is freakishly fast. I knew he was fast but not as fast as i thought. When Hayne made a break cuz of Presto's kick Mead was abt 10 - 15m behind him when Hayne was in full speed. Mead was able to catch up to him when Hayne scored. THT IS CRAZY. HE IS SO QUICK!

Three cheers for Mead. He has truly evolved in 2011. And has such speed, hunger for the line and belief. He has been one of our best in 2011.

Mead was easily the most consistent throughout the entire year.

I think he is going to take out the Paul Broughton Medal or at the very least come 2nd which is a great effort for someone who had limited opportunities.

Most tries, line breaks, most metres, most dangerous and for me when he gets into space the most exciting because of his blistering speed, hard running & great finishing.

You get the feeling Srama will take it out - Mead will be a close second with Bailey in the mix.

I reckon Bird will get it with Mead/Bailey fighting for second - tries are worthy but Bird's work rate can't be ignored, even though he had an average start most everyone else had a slow season. Srama didn't play enough games imho but will romp in Rookie of the Year and Harrison missed too much of the season.

Who had the better 2nd half of the Season?...Srama would have got the most pts in this time but out of the names listed it's going to be close. You never know, Harros lead may have been enough to at least squeeze in the top 3.

The coaching Staff would have had to give him 4 man of the match's to start with while the leaders did nothing. The leaders did quite well in the 2nd half of the Season.

I noticed that also. I also think that if he had started at full speed when Hayne first got the ball (he thought Bird had him) he would have caught him for sure..

.......that came out wrong. Sounds like I am bagging Mead. Far from it. One of the top 3 performers for the Titans this year easily.

Mead toughs it out with 'floating teeth'

GALLANT Titans winger David Mead has downplayed his heroic effort in helping the Gold Coast to a memorable victory, despite revealing he felt as though his bottom teeth were floating in his mouth after he shattered his jaw.

Mead yesterday underwent surgery on his badly fractured jaw and is facing four-to-six weeks on the sidelines.

The 24-year-old flyer, who was deputising in the centres for the first time, said he battled through the injury for about 15 minutes as the Gold Coast came from 22-8 down to beat Parramatta 28-22 in a Skilled Park thriller on Sunday night.

"It was painful. I thought my bottom teeth had come loose and were sitting in the middle of my mouth," Mead said from his hospital bed last night.

"I wasn't going off because I had experienced the pain earlier last year and I knew it was all right to just push through and finish the game."

It was a committed performance from Mead who didn't tell any of his teammates what had happened until after the game. He felt his mouth shatter when he went in for a tackle and copped a shoulder to the face.

The Papua New Guinean international suffered a broken jaw last year, albeit less severe, and missed four weeks of play.

Mead, who was having trouble sipping water, had another plate inserted into his jaw yesterday but is determined to return to the field as soon as possible.

"I'm always determined no matter what the situation is," he said.

"These things happen and are a part of our sport so I've learnt to accept it pretty quickly due to previous experiences. I'll have to concentrate on making sure I keep my hands on the footy and keep my fitness up without putting the jaw at risk for the next month."

The Titans have a bye this weekend which means Mead could miss as few as three games.

But his absence has left the Titans short on talent in the outside backs.

Debutant Anthony Don is likely to hold on to his spot in the team due to Mead's absence while coach John Cartwright is sweating on the fitness of centre Brad Takairangi (hamstring) for Sunday week's home game against Newcastle.

When a bloke is prepared to continue on throughout the game in this condition, it does show you how dedicated the bloke is to the game and team. These are qualities that cannot be taught, it's in their make up from the get go.

Just goes to show how fortunate we are to have Meady in our Team. All the best for a speedy recovery, David.

hey peeps, I was out of the country for 2 weeks, along with (but not actually with) David Bouveng, and I believe Titan Pete is currently breaking the Casinos around Vegas..... but anyway, it's not about us, my point is, I came back to find Meady killing it in the number 1 jersey, and I can't find a thread or even a single post about it.

Seriously, I watched the last couple of games since I've been back, and I haven't been so excited about watching a single player in our team since Albert Kelly has been sidelined.

Meady has been brilliant! Not only has he proven his grit and determination playing through a couple of broke jaws, but he now has the opportunity to show all his skills, speed and safety in the FB position, and he is making the absolute most of it.

Good luck with it Meady, you are killing it mate, and you've put a spark back into the team that we really needed.

Thanks mate! You're keeping the finals dream alive. :salute::thumbsup:
