Footy fans encouraged to arrive early on Friday
Suncorp Stadium | Tue, 21 Sep 2010

Footy fans attending this Friday night?s National Rugby League preliminary final have been urged to leave home early and give themselves plenty of time to arrive at Suncorp Stadium.

Stadium General Manager, Alan Graham said today that large numbers of Gold Coast Titans supporters were expected to head to Brisbane to witness their team?s attempt to make their first NRL Grand Final.

?There will be plenty of rail and bus services to meet demand. But if you leave it to the last minute to head to the game, it will place added pressures on the system and you potentially could end up missing the kick-off.

?And leave the car at home. Fifteen minute parking limits apply on streets around the Stadium and on the spot fines will be issued. Catching public transport will mean you avoid the local road closures and possible Friday afternoon peak hour traffic issues.?

Mr Graham said there were plenty of incentives to get to get to the Stadium early.

?There are two curtain-raisers including a Toyota Cup under 20 preliminary final and the Australian schoolboys final featuring the star-studded Keebra Park High team from the Coast to entertain those who do heed this advice.? he said.

Mr Graham said Titans fans catching the train from the Gold Coast should make Roma Street station their port of call.

?It?s a short 10 minute walk from Roma Street to the Stadium, and by taking this option, it will help overcome potential congestion issues and delays at Milton station, particularly after the game,? he said.

Mr Graham said fans should also pre-purchase their tickets for Friday night?s game.

?Not only does this allow fans to travel free on Translink and Surfside bus and Queensland Rail services, it also avoids potential queues at the box office once they arrive at the venue.

Mr Graham said some patrons assumed that with a 50,000 seat plus venue that they can simply turn up, purchase their ticket and head straight into the venue. If everyone adopts that approach, it can lead to possible delays and missing kick-off, particularly if they leave their arrival to the last minute.

Tickets can be purchased either by calling Ticketek on 13 28 49 or online at www.ticketek.com.au
