Jets to enjoy rest of season

THE Ipswich Jets are officially out of finals contention and will now, as Jets veteran Danny Coburn puts it, ?get back to just enjoying footy?.

Just seven rounds remain in the Queensland Cup competition.

The Jets, on just six points, would need to win every one while the teams sitting one through eight would need to lose all of their remaining matches if they were to sneak into the playoffs.

The Jets play the Northern Pride in Cairns tonight on the back of yet another cruel loss against the Burleigh Bears last week.

The Jets went down 30-22 to the Bears in what was otherwise an excellent night for the club with the Jets wearing pink jerseys to raise money for breast cancer support charity the Kim Walters Choices Program.

The Jets did well to come back from yet another first half deficit but like nearly every other match this season they could not do enough to hold on.

The Jets team will again feature Esi Tonga, the former Gold Coast Titans NRL regular and brother to Origin Star Willie.

Tonga is hoping an impressive display for the Jets in the coming weeks could help him secure a start in the Titans team in time for their run into the finals.

Coburn said he hoped if the team got back to having fun they may be able to string some wins together.

?Our focus is just on enjoying footy now and playing well instead of looking at the finals,? Coburn said.
