New recruit Joseph Tomane trains for the first time with the Jetstar Titans.

A mix of fresh faces and familiar ones hit the turf today as the Jetstar Gold Coast Titans returned to full pre-season training at their new Station Reserve training fields at Robina.

Having enjoyed an off-season break following the club?s first ever finals appearance last season, all hands were back on deck as the Jetstar Titans prepare to raise the bar again in season 2010.

New recruits Joseph Tomane (Melbourne) and Riley Brown (Sydney Roosters) joined the likes of captain Scott Prince, Mat Rogers and Preston Campbell in a sharp sprints and skills session in humid conditions.

There was a fresh face off the field too, with legendary trainer Ron ?The Cougar?? Palmer joining the Jetstar Titans coaching staff after spending more than 20 years with the Sydney Roosters.

For Jetstar Titans head coach John Cartwright, the return to training brought with it a pleasant surprise ? with the squad in good shape physically.

"It's the best shape they've ever come back in to be honest with you," he said.

?They had some testing today - some skin folds, weigh-ins and strength tests ? and it?s probably the best shape they?ve all come back in so that?s a good sign for us this early (in the pre-season.??

Cartwright said while it was too early to talk about team goals for season 2010, the team would be better prepared for pressure situations next season after their 2009 experience.

New Titans trainer Ron Palmer catches up with Jetstar Titans coach John Cartwright. The pair both worked together at the Sydney Roosters. "I think what we can take out of last year is that we were more than competitive with the very best sides,?? he said.

"When the pressure and the heat was on (finals) were probably came up a little bit short.

"But if we get into those games again, I know we're going to be better prepared to go a couple of steps further.??
