Meet Sam Tagataese
Recognised as a junior player with serious potential whilst playing club footy in his home town of Wellington (New Zealand), Sam was signed to play with Brisbane North?s in the Queensland Cup competition and made the trans- Tasman passage to chase his Rugby League dream.
A rampaging second rower with devastating speed, Sam quickly caught the eye of representative selectors and was named in the Queensland under 19?s and the Junior Kiwis in 2004.
Sam also turned down an opportunity to play with the Junior Kangaroos in the same year.
In 2007 Sam?s was terrorising his rivals in the Q-Cup when he received the call that every footballer dreams of, he?d been selected in first grade and was about to make his NRL debut with the Melbourne Storm.
Sam played 12 first grade games with the Storm and showed that he is a player with enormous potential.
After receiving limited opportunities throughout the 2008 season, Sam arrives on the Gold Coast desperate to establish himself as first a regular first grader and secondly as a potential Jetstar Gold Coast Titans game breaker.
He?s certainly a player to look out for, although at 105kgs with a giant Fro and standing 192cm tall he?ll be hard to miss.
