Former Newcastle Knights Winger Craig Hall will not be joining up with Wakefield Wildcats due to a serious knee injury.

The Australian three-quarter had started his pre-season regime set out by conditioner Anthony Hezeldine, when the injury occurred. Hall who was set to challenge along with new signing Austin Buchanan, and regular try scorer Colum Halpenny for the Right wing berth is disappointed at the lost opportunity. ?I am gutted to not get the chance to play for the Wildcats they have put together an exciting team who will score points, but I have to look after my knee and get it right?.

McColdrick completes Tigers switch

FRIDAY - 30th December 2005

Castleford have completed their overseas quota with the capture of goalkicking Australian centre Ryan McColdrick from Cronulla Sharks.

The 24-year-old Queenslander has spent the last six years with Cronulla, apart from a one-year stint in rugby union with New South Wales Warratahs in 2003 when he also played for the Wallabies at sevens.

McGoldrick is the 10th new signing for the newly-promoted Tigers and joins former Huddersfield captain Ben Roarty and former Cronulla team-mate Danny Nutley on the club?s quota.

?I?m very pleased to add some experience to our back line which is pretty young,? said Castleford?s new coach Terry Matterson.

?I believe he will be a good acquisition to the squad. He is quick and strong with the ball and gives us an accomplished goalkicker which is something I?ve been looking for.?

Raiders star joins French club
From correspondents in Perpignan, France
June 11, 2006

CANBERRA Raiders centre Adam Mogg has signed a three-year contact with the Catalan Dragons, the French rugby league club announced on its website today.

The 28-year-old played a season with the Parramatta Eels before moving to Canberra in 2003.

Mogg last week was drafted in as winger for Queensland for the second State of Origin match on June 14 which Queensland must win to avoid conceding the series to New South Wales.

"His experience and knowledge at a high level will help the Catalan Dragons develop in the Super League," said Dragons boss Grant Mayer.

Mogg is due to arrive in Perpignan in early November.

Scott Hill signs with Harlequins RL for 2 years

From: http://www.quins.co.uk/newspage.ink?nid=32501&newstype=n&matchid=&storytype=RL&Refid=

Harlequins Rugby League will be joined in 2007 by Melbourne Storm's leading play-maker, Scott Hill.

The former Kangaroo International and NSW State of Origin star will join Quins RL on a two year deal.

Hill has been in great form this season prompting a push by the likes of former Blue's legend Laurie Daley for his inclusion in the recent State of Origin decider. He has been integral to the Storm's recent winning streak which sees them well on course for the NRL Minor Premiership.

Scott made his first grade debut with Canterbury Bulldogs in 1996 before spending one season with the now defunct Hunter Mariners. He joined the Melbourne club in its inaugural season in 1998 and scored the club's very first try in the first round of that season. Due to a shoulder injury, Scott missed the Storm's Grand Final victory in 1999 but did go on and gain selection for NSW and Australia the following year. His Australian Test debut was against the Kiwis in 2000 and later that year he played in all six games in the World Cup.

Harlequins Director Tony Rea commented: 'Scott's style is hard to find and he is a diminishing breed of talent. He has an innate ability to read a game and make split second decisions. His experience, his class and his professionalism will be of great benefit for Harlequins Rugby League'.

Having played in the Victorian capital for the past nine seasons, Hill is looking forward to the move to another big city - London - outside of rugby league's 'heartlands':

'I've had some great times with Melbourne and I want to enjoy and make the most of our run into the finals series with a club that has been such a big part of my life.'

'Heading for London is a big opportunity for me and one which I am really looking forward to. Harlequins are a professional outfit with a lot of ambition and that appealed to me'.

Date of birth: 30/05/77, Position: Stand off/loose forward, Height: 186cm, Weight: 92kg

Michael Dobson currently sits at the top of world goal kickers with an incredible 87% success rate with the boot.

Dobson's success rate makes him the number one kicker in world rugby league ahead of Bulldogs star Hazen El Masri (84%), St Helens Jamie Lyon (81%) and Andrew Johns (80%).

Dobson has kicked 47 goals since joining the Warriors on loan from Catalans Dragons in May, and his hattrick of tries on Friday against Bradford has cemented him at the top of the clubs point scorers list with 106 points.

The little scrum half will return to Canberra at the end of the season and is therefore set to play his last game in a Warriors jersey when Wigan take on Hull FC at the JJB Stadium on Friday 15th September.

That's awesome to say he came to Wigan under pressure mid way through the season.

Hull KR sign Melbourne's Newton

Hull KR are set to strengthen their squad for next year's Super League season with the signing of Clint Newton from NRL champions Melbourne Storm.
The back-rower rejected a move to former club Newcastle Knights, opting for a two-year deal with the Robins.

Despite wanting to stay with the Storm, Newton was forced to leave because of strict NRL salary cap regulations.

"If there's a chance of playing for them again I'd definitely be interested," said the 26-year-old.

Newton's fate at the Storm was sealed when fellow back-rower Jeremy Smith decided to stay in Melbourne after rejecting the advances of St George Illawarra Dragons.

Newton joined the Storm midway through last season from the Knights after a public falling out with coach Brian Smith.

"I've had a great time at the Storm and I'll always be grateful they gave me the chance to continue playing in the NRL when I left Newcastle," added Newton.

I personally love Piggy Riddell as a player and for entertainment value. If he stays fit he'll carve them up around the ruck and he is one of the biggest wind up merchants in the NRL so you'll see some funny things on the field.

I see Salford have started early in recruiting for Super league next season by signing Ray Cashmere from North Queensland Cowboys on a 3 year deal. He's been very good for cowboys and I imagine he will do very well for Salford.

I notice Salford been busy in the market again but this time taking a Titan. Luke Swain has signed a 2 year deal with Salford and will begin life in Super League from beginning of 2009 season.

I thought Peterson going to Wakey from the wonderful Gold Coast must of been shock to system but Swain going to Salford will be a massive change!

Are you Titan fans who see Luke play week in week out, upset or not to be losing this player? What should Super League expect from Luke?

I always liked Swain,100% player, not flashy, and never let us down.Only really figured this season when injuries started to bite, played a lot more last season. He sounded as though he wanted to stay in NRL,preferably back in Sydney,if hes not commited,he will find Salford a bit of a culture shock from the Gold Coast....a good signing for the Reds though.

Chan completes Crusaders switch

engage Super League newcomers Celtic Crusaders have completed their squad strengthening with the signing of Papua New Guinea international Jason Chan.

The 24-year-old second row forward, who appeared in all three of the Kumuls? World Cup matches last year, has been playing with Windsor Wolves, the feeder club to NRL side Penrith Panthers, in the New South Wales Premier League in Australia.

He scored 16 tries and kicked 64 goals in 47 appearances, helping the Wolves lift the Jim Beam Cup last season.

Chan trained with the Crusaders during their three-week camp in Queensland last month and impressed coach John Dixon.

?Jason is a welcome addition to our squad,? said Dixon. ?He had an outstanding World Cup and performed very well at our pre-season camp in Brisbane. He will add speed and power to our forward pack.?

Chan takes the place of Cook Islander Ben Vaeau, who pulled out of a move to Bridgend for personal reasons.
