I think having ASF as a sponsor would be a PR disaster for the club and be something that they don't need. I think it's about 50/50 among people for the cruise terminal so a lot would be cheesed off.
I was originally in favour of this development as I think the spit is in need of a spruce up but then I saw what was planned for Wavebreak and the narrowing of the water from the Grand and south. But this part of the debate is not for this forum.
Perhaps with Nate Myles and Greg Bird as our co-captains we should be going after a port a loo sponsor.
OK, you said it, not me.
That is my point, it creates friction, especially on the GC, and we need something to bring us together. Anyone remember "Titans Unite 2014"????
Dodgy construction deals is our albatross, we don't really need to keep it fresh in peoples minds.
Having said that, i am not saying ASF are dodgy or it wont be good for the GC in the long run. That is an argument we will be hearing a lot more of for the next decade or longer and not really a RL forum argument. What I am saying is that it's not a uniting brand for a GC franchise trying to distance itself from past construction indiscretions.
I'd rather wait for something else.
Gee guys, are we being a little precious about our value and what a sponsor means? There is no doubt that the project itself is divisive but surely the very vast majority of rugby league fans will see any sponsorship by ASF (if it were in fact true) as a money grab by the club on one hand and an effort by ASF to get some local traction on the other.
I really don't see where there could be any misunderstanding in that or the perception of something not quite kosher. We certainly need the money, they certainly need some profile ... that's hardly some sort of sell-out because when it all boils down we just play football.
Furthermore, I completely agree that we need to distance ourselves from "previous indiscretions in the construction game" but I can't remember any of these companies being involved with us before ... plus, if we have to divorce ourselves completely from the construction game forever because of Searle's stain then we are in bigger trouble than I thought and ASF shouldn't matter at all.
MT is right, the project debate is not our club's concern and Pete is right, we should grab the cash. Eventually when the dust settles, every small operator on the Coast will want to be involved with ASF once they get going anyway ... history is just repeating itself.
Four reasons to escape to Queensland: Sun, Surf, Sand & the Titans.
In light of whats happened over the last two months, I think it's time the Titans get on board with an organisation like the Life education centre and throw it on the front of their jerseys for round 1. Own it and hopefully let the bad apples benefit a local charitable organisation. Turn a theme round into a fund raiser for them etc etc. Get ahead of this mess!!!!!
Maybe something will happen. The NRL have a bit of muscle to flex. And offer certainty and credibility.
PUT EM TO THE SWORD! SHOW SOME STEEL!
Moejoe: "REMEMBER!!!! SLIP - SLOP - SLAP in the sun. Skin Cancer is a growing problem. It could happen to anyone!!"TITANS, DIEHARDS, WARRINGTON WOLVES, MAROONS, KANGAROOS, HONG KONG THUNDER

Why don't we let Robina Town Centre on cheap as say a sleeve sponsor and in return let people park there and advertise the fact.
is it alarming that in our history the only major sponsors we have had, David May was responsible for ? hewas in charge of sponsorship at those companies...Jetstar then he moved to Iselect and they sponsored us.
Dave can you open a pie shop or something so we can put in on our jumper. we need some cash again.

Maysie raises his head after all this time ... welcome back. Would it be inappropriate to mention dog collars, cheap pussies or rubber bones and how about the bird in a cage?

Gold Coast Bulletin is reporting that we will roll with Ronald McDonald House as an interim charitable sponsor.
