MANLY star Brett Stewart has been taken into police custody after failing a Random Breath Test (RBT) on the Northern Beaches on Monday morning.
Witnesses contacted The Daily Telegraph with sightings of Stewart being loaded into the back of a paddy wagon.
It’s understood he was drinking with friends in Manly on Sunday night and caught a cab home around 1am.
A Manly spokesman has confirmed the club is aware of the incident and has also informed the NRL Integrity Unit.
The Daily Telegraph is awaiting a response from police, but understands Stewart’s DUI reading was low range.
James Tamou was fined $1900 after pleading guilty in a Townsville court to drink-driving and driving without a licence in June last year. He was also disqualified from driving for 15 months.
He was arrested with a blood-alcohol level almost four times the legal limit.
Tamou was fined $20,000, received a one-match NRL ban and was made ineligible for State of Origin II as part of his punishment by the NRL.
Newcastle Knight Willie Mason was also disqualified from driving for six months and fined $900 after being caught with a blood alcohol level of .09 during a random breath test on his way to training following Australia Day this year.

Apparently he was driving about 9 hours later, after catching a cab homeafter a night out. Unless you have your own personal breath tester it is hard to know when you are 100% ok to drive.

Local court fine, slap on the wrist by the NRL and a towelling by the media about the bad image of NRL players, poor role models, when will they learn etc....
